Tbf to pool I believe they are the most successful British club in Europe. But that's in the past.

Might have something to do with 180,000 a week. But sure, if you want to pretend it's because this young lad loves Paisley and the Beatles that's also cool.

We need to look forward to the future and can use our succesfull history as a platform to grow to that level of standard again. The past is gone and we need to think in the now as a club, players and fans.

Our owners are doing a good job off the field and on the field making the right decisions.

It is important to have a strategy and having football men making the football decisions and commercial people doing the other stuf to grow financialy.

I would have a shankly tattoo if they were paying me £180,000 a week.

And who do you think writes these comments for the players to say?...............it happens at every club.

Its called the PR department.................

posted on 1/1/18

And like any good PR department they won't ask a player who joins Liverpool to say "Its 28 years since Liverpool last won a league title"

posted on 1/1/18

Liverpool’s last league title was before VVD was born
By the way is this year your year ?

you really really think LFC are this massive club that the top players want to join. Sorry mate, your still in tier 2 or 3 of where players want to come to regardless of your history way way way back.

History card still in play for the scousers

Having signed players that were wanted by Chelsea, City and Barcelona, it's clear that we do still have some pull. And I think it will only grow in the coming years.

Barca couldn't hold on to Neymar but they have quite a lot of pull.

I'd be shocked if he said anything else than this.

But with Klopp and the stature of the club we've a better chance of getting top players, like VVD we have to hope the individual wants to play under Klopp and he can sell the club to the player.

But they are not Liverpool. They don’t have Klopp, stadium and all the other stuff listed in the op.

BTW. This is all tongue in cheek response to op.

You only ever sign players from one club.....they only come to Liverpool to reunite with their former Southampton team mates

The past is the past and currently counts for fekall.

Still on the same current theme, our club is big, it is in a good position. Relative to our nearest opponents, with the new stadium, a sprinkling of top class players, with more on the way, an electrifying manager, backed financially by the owners, we are in a good place, better than we have been for some time.

Can headed elsewhere? Good luck son wherever you go.

Coutinho going South? We've had top class players leave us over the decades, it doesn't automatically result in our results also headed South. For those old enough, remember the grief when Kevin Keegan used sticks and went off to Hamburg? Sheer panic, all join hands, end of the world etc.

Then a man called Dalglish arrived. Enough said.

Currently - yes I'm back to our current situation - top four is a minimum target. I believe we can get second slot.

I hope that's not the kiss of death.

The stature of the club? You've finished behind Tottenham 8 out of 9 seasons and won no more than us in recent years. You just signed a player from Southampton, as any top 5 club can do.

Which players did you beat City Barca & Chelsea to?

I actually think the prospect of ending the clubs long and well publicised title drought can be somewhat of a pull in attracting a top player, depending on what motivates them.

Realistically VVD could of waited for a move to City be it later in the transfer window or in the summer. He would of picked up a similar if not bigger pay cheque and would undoubtedly of won a number of trophies/titles. He would however just be another number and in truth they’d win titles regardless of whether he was there or not.

Hollow isn’t the right word however it would pale into insignificance in the difference to winning the title at Anfield. Joining us the chances of silverware our significantly less however the rewards are far greater in terms of leaving a legacy and writing yourself into Anfield folklore in delivering the first ever Premier League title. He has the potential to be a legend at the club as opposed to just being another number at a side like City.

All players are motivated by different things however the chance of ending Liverpool’s well publicised title drought is definitely a challenge that some will relish and play a part in their decision to join the club.
