Honestly Chronic, why not just wrap them up and never let them play at all. I give up with you and wanting players rested all the time

--------

its simple squad management really.... have a look at our fixtures between now and the start of March and you will see why I think we need to be very careful and sensible with how we use our key players / squad.

Sandy, those are totally different in that they're individual sports. Football has a squad of players for a reason. Because it's a team sport.

Also think about it from the manager's side. He has to try and keep a large squad of players all happy.

this is obvious to everyone apart from sandy.

Keeping players happy, don`t win points. The really good and ruthless managers don`t worry about upsetting players, they usually play what they consider their best XIs as much as possible.

Look at Hughes rested all of his players at Chelsea, saved them for Newcastle, and guess what lost both games.

Davies is decent and had good start to the season. Him and Trips are good back ups but nothing more. Need to have better starters, hopefully Aurier gets a run and shows us hes capable.

Saying to promote KWP straight to what position? Back up RB to Aurier and move Trips on?

unfortunately we are not good enough to rest key men and it will result in points being dropped. Said before tonight screams banana skin.

we are not saying make 11 changes, sandy.

suggesting dembele to play two games in 3 days is simply ridiculous... it just wont happen. the guy would fall apart. he needs to be managed. rest him for Swansea and let him stomp all over the pikeys

Dier needs a rest one of the games imo, he always does a job and has been okay in midfield recently but looks so slow and off the pace at times, the guy has played every game

I would say the best managers can rotate and be successful with it, getting the whole of the squad on board with what he's doing. Even Pep has been rotating his players.

Anyway, I don't mind what team Poch plays apart from having Dier in the centre. This seems to ensure we play well and look balanced.

At last a poster with a sense of realism.

Spurs simply cannot afford to drop any points, tinkering with the team gives it a greater chance of that happening, not sure why supporters cannot see that. Players need to man up and get out on the pitch, and show they really are up to the job. I am sure they want to, it is just certain of our supporters, who are weak in mind and body, not the players in reality.

we might drop points, but that just means our squad isn't good enough...

like I said before, if we cannot beat Swansea without a couple of main players then we have no business thinking we will get top 4. to not beat the worst side in the league in a season isn't really acceptable.

if we over play players in a short space of time then they become susceptible to injury and could miss extended and crucial parts of the season...

personally if Kane is under the weather then I wouldn't play him tonight. I want him fit and firing on Thursday.

likewise dembele cannot play both, so play him on Thursday against a more physical west ham side...

Swansea are a ball playing side with tom carroll in midfield.. we don't need dembele for the muscle... winks can more than handle him !

we struggled against swansea at home remember dont think dembele played in that one did he?

posted on 2/1/18

Totally agree with Sandy. Who ever wants Kane rested tonight needs taken out and shooting. He has a f*** cold If it was a muscle tear then totally different. We need to go full strength in both the prem games then rest our top players, I.e Kane in the FA cup game v Wimbledon. 2 massive prem games coming up and people on here want Kane rested for one of them

need to win the next two desperately. so full strength but poch will rotate the full backs and dembele will only play one game

Here`s a good idea. Let`s rest Toby, move Dier back, rest Eriksen, Ali and Kane, replacing with Winks, Wanyama, who has not played for months and Llorente, who has not scored for months in the Prem. Swansea look at the team, say hey, they are disrespecting us, resting all their best players, they couldn`t beat us at Wembley, let`s do them. Bingo 1-0 to Swansea. Job done. Catastrophe.

Not sure if you have noticed Chronic, but this is just about the most crucial part of the season on offer. Spurs are 7 points of a top four place, and the FA Cup is about to start.

I know let`s rest all of our players and keep them for the really, really crucial part of the season, when Spurs are out of the CL, FA Cup and 7th in the league.

Tbh with Kane we don’t even know if he’s available or not atm unless someone knows he travelled or not.

comment by Spurtle (U1608)

Thought this was more about the full backs being rotated. If it's about Kane then if he's fit and available play him, although we probably could win without him, given that we did well without him last season when he got injured the second time.
