I'm still a bit dissapointed though Derby!
I am it feels like we lost
Can't be disappointed with 7 from 9pts. The penalty takes the shine off slightly but fair play to Clark. He's gone out to win games against probably 2 of our main rivals and come away with 4 pts. We wouldn't have said that 4 weeks ago. Football is a simple game and that's why we love it. Complicated ideas and tactics only go and spoil things. Carry on as we are now and we will pi££ this league
And to add to that, 5-1, 6-1 next week cos I think somebody's in for a battering from us
people might say Orient are due a win... It won't be next week! ! No chance.
That can't be too bad can it !
If the keeper made a good save, Then that's fair enough for me,
In my way of thinking, To 'Miss a penalty' is to be off target..
I had TOWN darn for 3 possible defeats this month, so, as mentioned already, 4 points from 6, at two away fixtures against top of the table opposition ...WELL DONE TOWN
to move onto other matters.
Still no place for Clarke on the bench !
People have already commented that TOWN defended well, I for one am happy enough that L.C. started with Tuesday nights 'eleven'
Is our 'ex' captain skillful enough to get back into this team, or has the wind been blown out of his sails ? Is KAY now 'the Man' !
Who in your opinions, do the players respect & want to play with as a preference .....Lee Clark will be taking notice of all this on the training ground.
What now for P Clarke, Will he have the patience to 'sit it out' & wait for Kay or Maccer to be suspended or injured,
In my opinion the Kay/McCombe combo only came about because Clarke himself got injured, It wasn't a tactical choice by L.C.
Oh for today's starting eleven at Old Trafford last May
! Agreed. Don't luck back though !
You did lose 2 points there - a penalty at that stage should have buried the game. OK loads of issues around it - but that was the golden chance.
Overall really enjoyed the game, we rode our luck in this one, and without some really great stops from our goalie Martin (I was convinced one of your shots was going in, how he got his foot out I dont know), it could easlily have been a repeat score wise of last year. But we played some good stuff as well, which should have led to more goals from MK. We could really see the lack of depth of our squad - so pleased we were able to get a point from what are clearly one of the best teams in the division.
Long season ahead for us both - best of luck COYD
we played better than we did last season..
the first half should have brought 3 goals instead of one..
we started the second half poorly(like always) and gave away a poor goal..
we then had the better play and the better opportunities to win it.. some poor decisions by players in and around the opponents box did for us. crosses when shots were on and a couple of shots when passes to free players were the better option.
alan lee started the ruck with their lad but the ref only saw alan fall to the ground.. both should have been booked and play should have restarted with a drop ball..
novak missed a penalty but overall it should not have made any difference we should have already won the game like tuesday night.
one point to make again....
gobern????
the game on tuesday was more end to end and it bypassed him, yesterday mk dons tried very hard to play the ball through midfield and the game totally bypassed gobern again..
exactly what or where is gobern supposed to be playing and what role has he???
robinson made more tackles in 15 minutes and got to the edge of mk box more than gobern had done in 75 minutes..
kay was motm again with johnson close behind.
we played well and should have won, we just had a silly period again where we dropped off and allowed a team that were playing a lot of "football" without getting anywhere to get somewhere...
lovely sunny day though..
38 u seem happy with that performance tho . Is it better than last season ? A yes or a no will do thanks
yes.. we tried to win the game for most of it..
thats all that i was asking for them to do..
Are we playing better overall than last season in your view 38 , and your view only because I respect your views you say it how it is .
the last 2 away games gathered 4 points against 2 sides that should be in the top 6 at the death..
being honest we should have had 6 points..
thats the long version of yes..
we will get more points playing this way even if we lose a few along the way..
we are playing better for the simple reason that it all looks better when play as we are doing..we are not playing the intermenable sideways and backwards rubbish and we are playing as a unit further up the pitch when not in possession..
we made a good number of chances on tuesday and we made loads yesterday..
its better than watching dull, scrappy invariably lucky draws away from home and stagnant, slow , lacking invention home matches..
First chance I've had to comment on the match since Saturday so here goes in random order...
- Oscar Gobern, what is his job? Matches just seem to pass him by and he contributed very little, I don't understand what his role is. People say he breaks play up but now DJ is fit that's what he does, and he does it much better as well.
- DJ, what a guy. He seems much fitter than last season, running for 90 minutes without struggle. He does the simple things very well and pretty much any move we make starts with him. Defensively we look so much better as he stops the midfield leaking.
- Tony Kay and Boom Boom once again looked very strong, although some muppets continue to talk nonsense about McCombe even when he does play well. One woman on Saturday must have been just to the left behind the goals, row Yish, and has no business ever attending a football match again if she doesn't know what she's looking at.
- Lee and Novak played very well again, Lee in particular once again leading the line very well and taking focus off Novak, allowing him more space as the defenders continually panicked over the big man.
- The penalty - their bloke should have been sent off and a penalty awarded for the stamp on Lee in the first place, but apparently the ref and linesman missed it which is no desservice to them as neither had a good view. From there Lee reacted, they came head to head, their lad pushed and Lee went down like he'd been shot, funny and effective as it won us the penalty.
- Danny Ward looked lively throughout and had his shot gone in the first half would have been goal of the season by some distance. I was disappointed when he got brought off as I thought perhaps we could have put Arfield in the middle and bring Gobern off for Roberts, using 2 more direct wingers to get at them and win the match.
- Scott Arfield for me would be player of the season so far, I haven't seen him have a bad game, and currently he's really on top form despite playing in a very difficult position.
- Callum Woods was once again very good, he's just as good as Hunt going forward while being very solid at the back, what he did he did with minimal fuss and we really look solid in all areas at the back at the moment.
- The singers need to start standing at the back if they're going to stand up and not watch the match half of the time. It's all well and good going on the lash but people pay to watch the match, so stand at the back and have your fun there so people who can't stand up for 90 minutes can sit down and enjoy the match.
- We should be looking at another 4 points as a minimum from the next 2 matches, we should be putting 4 or 5 passed Orient and then should be taking the game to Brentford as well.
terrier..
i think we have a general consensus on the last 2 performances.
we are much better taking the game to teams, be they the so called "better" sides or the "lesser" sides away from home.
the team works well when defending further up the pitch and we made enough chances on saturday to win a few games.
we still have to work harder on the start of each half and getting switched on after breaks in play and we effectively played with 10men for most of the game as gobern appears somewhat lost where he is at the moment.
but overall the last 2 games have been attacked properly given the personnel we have and we all seem to agree that there is no one we play in the league that we should alter that style and attacking purpose for.
100% agreed, we did everything right in the first half and really should have had the game won at half time but for whatever reason we just couldn't get the ball in the back of the net due to a combination of tough luck, the woodwork and a couple of good saves by their keeper.
Dons and United are 2 of the better teams in a poor league this season, so if we can maintain that level of performance we won't have many problems, home or away.
After been there Tues and Cas saying the game also passed him by yesterday, does Gobern need replacing with Robinson or Miller?
I've just seen the highlights on the beeb, the equaliser looked like a fault with our defense on set pieces as we seem to be vulnerable against, on different day a player would have got a leg in the way to stop it. These things happen, although can be worked on, no blame just an observation.
With the red card, he clearly stamped on Lee, although you don't see them square up as its off camera, the offending lad does seem to almost headbutt the ref when he goes to talk to him tho
alan lee goes head to head with him, then moves his own head away quickly..from a distance or from the quick glance that the ref and lino had it looks like he has been headbutted..
alan lee needs to get involved in the physical battles whilst the balls there to be won or to make a nuisance of himself, i dont want him to be involved in this sort of silly sh-t too often.. a lot of the time itll go against him, he was lucky on saturday..
Lee badly at fault for our goal - he was marking the big defender. His problem is that he doesn't jump when he goes for headers. Somehow he manages to make hia standing-style work when he's flicking on long balls but it doesn't work in your own box. He's bloody funny though so I'm happy for him to stay in and continue his Gaelic Football.
