But what about 4th spot !
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I fear for that, if VVD seals up the holes in the Liverpool defence they look very good and $puds are starting to look the part again, while we seem to be actually regressing!

Talking of Barkley, does anyone have any idea of his fitness status?

Is he likely to be available any time in the near future?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Conte said, that he maybe involved vs Norwich. So he must be fit enough

Yep Brummie. I don't think RLC would've been the answer, even though he's probably a better option than Baka and DW. We need a solid B2B midfielder to partner Kante, unless as you said earlier Barkley surprises us all !!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe he would have been the answer, maybe not, as this club will never give the youth a chance to prove themselves.

What I do know is I would have preferred us to try and fail in that experiment, just to find out, rather than continue with players that we know are not going to cut the mustard but still persist with them anyway.

I don't know about that Biggish, to me Chalobah, like Matic, plays in the same position as Kante, not sure how good he would be as the type of creative CM we need.

One option could have been to play Chalobah in Kantes position and give Two blokes the licence to roam further forward - I actually think Kante is more capable further up the pitch than people give him credit for!

Anyway, I am like many of us left feeling very frustrated by our football in recent weeks and just hope Conte can find a solution, as I feel we maybe unravelling at the moment.
------------------------------------------------------------------

If you’re interested in what I would do in Conte’s position Biggish, for what my opinion is worth but I feel we should be playing to our strengths – which is two players we have sat on the bench in Pedro and Willian.

Why not convert Willy into a box to box midfielder (he certainly has the engine for it) to partner Kante, while playing both Pedro and Hazard behind Morata.

It doesn’t leave us much experience with substitutions but it will mean we can start using Musonda and Hudson Odi from the bench to back up Hazard and Pedro, whilst DD and Fabregas are adequate as substitutes for CM.

Lewis Baker should of been given a chance. Better than RLC in my opinion. A midfielder that scores goals aswell

I actually agree with that, however we opted to loan him out to, surprise surprise, to Boro!

Baka and DW aren't good enough for the 3-5-2 system.

Baka and Danny Winkwater??

Always interested Brummie but agree with Sideshow about Luiz. Think he is easier to convert than Willian.

Nothing wrong with selling Matic still, and the idea to replace him with younger, more dynamic and versatile player. Just, as of now, Baka seems the wrong choice, though may improve. So kinda agree with you. Tbf I don't think keeping Matic over Bakayoko would have changed our season much.

----------------------------------------------------------------------We've tried Luiz in CM before though Biggish and wasn't a fan of him there TBH.

However, nothing can be any worse than the current situation.

Willian played in midfield for Shaktar prior to joining us and he was pretty impressive.

I don't think there will be any change in the league position. If we kept Matic for one year, DD will still be with Leicester (35M). It is evident Cesc can't play more games and last year Conte used him wisely. On top of that Baka wouldnt have lot of pressure. He get time to eased into squad and next year we could go for a top CM.

I hope Baka improves but currently can't see that. IMO his mind set is not right. We can clearly see he is making the basic mistakes; 5-10 yard passes, unaware of players near by, lack of positional awareness. If he was making mistakes while driving the ball from midfield or shooting constantly into rowz these can improve. Really hope he improves as we spend 75M on midfielders and can't see us signing another unless some one leaves.

Selling Matic and that to Man U was a mistake but I have got faith in Bakayoko.
