It's exactly the kind of boring overly-hyped nonsense that Npe will love and probably get a million Oscar noms too.

Dune (rewatch) - 10/10

Even better second time around happily.

Tried Villeneuve's snore fest twice now - decided to put on Midsomer Murders, actually has engaging storylines for all its hammy acting and preposterousness.

Dune - plot is predictable, aesthetically unimaginative, wailing score that hurts the ears, bland production design, badly edited fight scenes, not a single emotionally engaging dramatic beat.

It only gets a four because I think Chalamet was very good.

Pun's taste is terrible. I take his low scores as ringing endorsements of a movie's quality.

Well the sequel is where the action is meant to be, but I was never really interested in Dune. And when this was coming out, it didn’t really do anything to make me want to see it.
I’m in no rush.

Every moment is signposted, and for all the supposedly amazing production design and visual effects.

Blandness with lots of foreboding narration.

Basically a mid-market perfume ad.
