PEA is an above average striker, whereas Giroud is an average player. CFC just being consistent with their transfer policy that’s all

Really like giroud, and yes hes better than bats.

Second part of your article would have made more sense though.

100 goals in 118 games is ‘above average’? God knows what you think of Morata then.

Giroud loan only option. Never outright buying.

CMF you talk a lot of sense m8. Goobers will never give Giroud onloan to us. They are not that stupid

He fits the profile for the type of striker you're after, Aubameyang doesn't.

And he's not as bad as made out if you're looking for a backup option rather than a starter.

The reason he got so battered at Arsenal was that, as a starter, he stuck out like a sore thumb given the style of play the team favoured and the fans wanted. Nowadays he's a good option off the bench for games that need a bit more of an aerial approach. I reckon most Gooners are happy with that.

Fits the profile CONTE is after, second choice targetman. Short-term stopgap.
Board yielding to his demands.

Agree with what you are saying CMF. But the talk of taking him on loan is a bit unrealistic

Giroud is much better thab Batshuayi

If it's true...

Stil, I think it might not be such a bad deal for you, Conte'nt.

Giroud's experienced, has played plenty as a late sub and scored his fair share of goals in that role. Fack sake, 10 days ago you were facing the prospect of Crouchy or Carroll!

Talk of paying a substantial fee and long-term contract for an overaged player is the unrealistic speculation. Goes against policy.

Loan until the end if the season is realistic, especially if Giroud pushes for the move and Wenger doesn't want to lose him permanently. Win-win for all parties from that perspective.

We'll see what happens.

I agree with you IOAG, but my point is that Goobers would only be interested in selling him outright for a silly transfer fee, they are not that stupid to loan him out instead

posted on 29/1/18

Doubt they will loan him. Wenger doesn't want to sell him. He's very good for them off the bench and his slowness doesn't affect the gear as much then as the other teams defenders are a little worn out.

Also, reportedly, Dortmund wanted Giroud plus cash for PEA, but seems like it will be straight cash with them getting someone else with the money they get (a few strikers have been linked to them).

Batshuayi going to Dortmund on loan apparently.
Which leds me to believe that was the move to allow Aubemayang to Arsenal.

Would make sense Arsenal agreeing to allow Giroud on loan to Chelsea if it was part of a 3-way deal to facilitate PEA's arrival.

This sort of deal is not uncommon in the U.S. leagues.

Probably why Arsenal/Wenger would be open to loaning Giroud to us, if you believe the press.

posted on 29/1/18

It does seem a bit speculative, tbh, but I can see why it could make sense for all parties.

Can see us signing Giroud on loan until the summer, Probably works out better than signing Dzeko for €30M just for our new manager to not fancy him at all.
