Why So Quiet?

I don't think the squad has any obvious weaknesses that need addressing; that's the key point of it. We're after 7th place in the league and we look good for that right now (which could easily change if we lose to Everton tomorrow evening of course), we won't catch or challenge the top 6 this season, Amartey's doing a competent if unspectacular job filling in at right back so even our arguably most urgent position isn't that urgent. So what purpose is there dashing out to make an expensive panic buy right now?

Things might open up if there's a last minute run on Mahrez or Vardy of course, but it's hard to see the owners sanctioning a big sale like that at this late stage.

Rudkin has had another excellent transfer window...

Plenty to be happy about at the moment and that does explain the absence of certain posters who only appear when things aren’t great. So, to balance the mood, I’ll try and find some reasons to be pessimistic:

1. Still too reliant on Mahrez and Vardy: we may have seen a glimpse of the future with Diabaté and Ian, but there is not yet a convincing argument to suggest that we’d threaten the top half without our big two. Our squad depth is improving, but still shallow in some areas.

2. Still not considered a big club: it’s still assumed that any good player we get will walk away as soon as a big club comes calling. Despite 2015/16 can we ever truly threaten the established world order again? Or are we destined to be a feeder club for the top six. Kante and Drinkwater have gone. Mahrez may be next. Then who? Ndidi and Maguire?

3. Summer of 2016: I’d contend that we’ve not done much wrong as a club since promotion. That is with the huge exception of the transfer window after we won the league. If ever there was a time to capitalise that was it - and we failed. In a way we just need to forget that now and move on as a club, but it still leaves a depressing legacy. If you consider Ron Robert Zieler, Luiz Hernández, Bartosz Kapustka, Nempalys Mendy, Ahmed Musa and Islam Slimani - they’ve all failed to a greater or lesser degree. The evidence of the current transfer window makes it clear that we’ll never get our money back. Oh well ..:

Apart from that it’s all brilliant

Just for you TB i took a break for a while when i started wasting time getting wound up.
I thik success this window is not selling anyone we don't want to go. No point in buying now given that all the squad has had a run out and the manager knows what we have got.
Better buy in the summer and have a pre season.

I have said i think King will go to Derby but Brighton might want him or go to Belgium and do his coaching badges with NP?

Good to hear from you Nev.

I’m sure I’m not alone in saying I’ve missed ypur threads recently, even if the puns are getting worse get back to normal please.

The thing we all know that with a couple of bad results it’ll all turn and Players will be deemed not good enough again and the Club will be slated for not strengthening the Squad.

I seem to have read about most positions having a weakness when times are bad, now everything’s rosy?

Dunge. Wash your mouth out.

We need to panic and replace Amartey at right back immediately.

Otherwise I agree that we don’t need to rush in anywhere unless we sell. It’s weirdly quiet around all the players we want to keep. It feels like massive fees have been slapped on Mahrez and Vardy for us to even begin talking in January so it may all remain quiet until the summer. Then we’ll see how Purl wants to shape this team.

So it’s all good isn’t it.

That said, Rudkin is still to blame for all world poverty and war.

Mersey - I think it's "plain" he wants to "knit" the squad
together!!

Looks like things are about to liven up. Rumours about Man City sticking in a £50m bid for Mahrez.

Mahrez has handed in a Transfer Request, this will be interesting, Puel has said he's going nowhere
