Henderson is the obvious one to drop.
Dier for him.

Not sure about a back 5 - would drop Cahill but there is little chance of that.

Danny Rose has to prove his fitness.

Lallana in for a CB. Left back up for grabs.

Also Butland would be my GK I think.

Butland
Walker--Stones-Cahill*--Rose
Wilshere--Dier--Lallana
Alli--Sterling
Kane

Or something.

Wilshere is a shoe in. Easily the best English midfielder and key to Alli and Kane getting any sort of decent service.

Pickford
Walker Stones Maguire Rose
Dier
Wilshere Alli
Lingard Kane Sterling

We will go 3 at the back, so no point picking teams without it:

Pickford

Gomez
Stones
Maguire

Walker
Dier
Henderson
Sessegnon

Sterling
Alli

Kane

Cahill, Henderson

Rose needs to get fully fit

Fml if Henderson gets in on this seasons form/starts. That said hes the only one who tries to make things happen for England and gets blamed for losing the ball cause hes practically the only one looking for movement from the missing harry kane and co in behind. If he doesnt stay its all gna fall on Jack Wheelchairs shoulders?

With Lallana not fit Alli and Lingard are probably the closest we have in terms of movement work rate off the ball etc.

Dier
Wilshere Ox

probably the best we've got atm.

Lallana Barkley Winks Drinkwater etc not playing Chalobah one of Southgates pets? shame about loftus cheek will he make it? Livermore :/ Mf doesn't look great.

Pickford

Gomez
Stones
Maguire

Bit inexperienced that as promising as they all are.

Agree with that mostly, even though i don’t really rate Wilshire he’s kinda the best of a bad bunch for England. Love Lallana but i don’t see him being fit enough for the World Cup, such an injury disrupted season.

If England go 3 at the back then I’d really like to see Gomez play, he’s suited to that perfectly and i think he’d excel there at the World Cup.

So uninspired reading the names in this thread

Wilshere won’t be fit for a World Cup either.

No way he can play 3, 4, 5 games in a short time at the end of a season.

Maybe take him in the squad as an impact player but not a starter.

Wilshire is pretty average, and I doubt he will be fit anyway.

I remember when people were desperate to get rid of the golden generation so that this new young fresh brave fearless crop of players can grow together and win stuff. Forgetting that this new group of players are dogshıt compared to the golden boys.

Evening Mr C. the Golden Generation were absolute tripe. This generation has a long way to go to be as rubbish as that lot were in tournaments.

Haha, players who haven't got out of a group at a World Cup and lost to Iceland have a long way to be as rubbish as a group who lost on penalties against tip teams most competitions.

Most of the names mentioned in this thread were part of the previous tournament embarrassment. They don't have that far to go to be as rubbish as the 'Golden Generation'.

Pickford
Jones Stones Maguire?
Walker Wilshere Dier? Rose
Alli Kane Sterling

Good team. That front 3 is very strong, one of the best in the world imo. And before you laugh at that, Harry Kane is the best striker in the premier league and one of the best strikers in the world no doubt, Sterling has been excellent this season and Alli is a top player. Aside from that, wingbacks are good, defence is good, England should do well.

Wilshire was great for England most of the time he played. So many motm performances.

I’d say Henderson has to start. Makes a big difference to Liverpool when he plays compared to when he doesn’t

posted on 2/2/18

The big problem is that most England players don't transfer their club form to the international stage.

Who's going to manage this lot?
And lick them into being a team?
And how much time will be devoted to that?
A couple of warm-up marches perhaps?

also, when was the last time England was so weak at centre back ? desperate.

Agree that 3atb with Maguire, Stones, Gomez (or Dier as well) would be good.

Stones Maguire Gomez
Walker Dier/Hendo Wilshere Rose
Alli Kane Sterling

Lingard, Rashford, Vardy as options off the bench, not bad at all
