As a fan there’s nothing more I would like to see half a dozen youngsters come through and given a chance. We have some of the best in Europe. Give the youngsters a chance even if it means missing out on any trophies for a couple of seasons. The club can’t continue on this roller coaster ride, buying over priced dross players, new manager in every other year, players undermining the manager. Is it any wonder we are a laughing stock?

Modern managers are in an environment where they don't have the luxury of time to bring in or develop youngsters. Most last a season and a half before their next job. The average at Chelsea seems to be 2 years. Unless the board want to take a long term approach and mean it (sticking by it when it gets patchy or there is a ride run or titles and cups), you are unlikely to get a manager to do that.

You have to look at Jose at United. He knows the club and the fans expect it. So he has brought some through (though not as many as LVG but more so than Moyes).

This means it needs not just the fans wanting it but those at the top of the club wanting it or wanting it for the fans. Unless that changes, the youth policy won't be much different unless a manager can get into a good run into his 3rd year.

I used Jose as an example as he is notorious for not promoting youth. Yet at United he has done so. I think it helps due to the environment and culture of the club to do so.

So I don't think it's a fault with the managers per se
