A casual fan to me:
Only watches and follows the really big names
Doesn't know anything about other weight classes/belts
Doesn't follow boxing news/stories
Doesn't understand how styles/match ups work
Doesn't understand about mandatories
Makes generic/simplistic deductions
Buys into anything that makes the headlines
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A casual to me is the type that doesnt know anything about boxing. couldnt tell you any more than 2/3 weight classes, couldnt tell you the top dogs at any other weight other than HW. they tend to be the people just looking for something to do on a sat night.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed.
But disagree that those people think Chisora is a top 5 fighter just because they've heard his name before.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think if you asked a casual to name the top 5 heavyweights in the UK, Chisora would feature in that list.
Dubois on the undercard for the Fury Chisora casual bonanza!
I hope Fury gets beat, but either way I won’t be watching this monstrosity

I'd love it if Delboy knocks him spark out. Sadly it will be just as boring as the first two. Will probably be remembered as the most boring and pointless trilogy in boxing history.
Just when people needed cheering up we get Fury vs Chisora 3 instead. Fck boxing
I really liked Tyson for a while, but he’s a bit of a dosser himself.
He beat an unproven fighter in Wilder and an ancient Vitali… But who else has he beat??
Whyte?
He needs knocking down a peg or 2 imo

He's never going to get knocked down a peg or 2 if he fights the likes of Chisora until retirement instead of Usyk/AJ.
Fury vs Chisora 3 confirmed with the venue being the spurs stadium.
Not only is this fight farcical but they have the audacity to put it in a stadium and no dount charge PPV.
'Casuals' has become an overused term in boxing. I see it get thrown about towards others on boxing channel comment sections all the time when I think, if they are commenting on boxing channels, they probably aren't that casual about the sport.
For me a casual is someone who if you told them Tyson was fighting Chisora for a third time, they'd believe it to be Mike Tyson.
Chisora is going to have throw a load of table and chairs to hype this none event up.
Fury before his prime and drugs intake was able to school Chisora twice. How is this going to be different?

Wilder arguably the hardest puncher in history and 2nd best heavyweight in the world. None of the top hw's have a great resume. Fury, AJ, Usyk and Wilder all need to fight each other.
The build up will be more entertaining for the fight. I didn't see their first bout but the 2nd was up there with the most one sided fights I've seen. I worry for Chisora later in his life, there can't be many fighers that's taken more punishment than him in their careers.

Wilder is not the 2nd best heavyweight. I'd put Fury and Usyk above him.
As far as resumes, AJ has the best overall resume out of Fury and Wilder.
Usyk naturally has the best but most of that was at cruiserweight.
Usyk would run rings around Wilder but I'd back him to time one punch and then it's lights out.
The only elite fighter AJ beat was Klitschko, and Fury beat him 2 years earlier in Germany when he was champ. You can't count Usyk because he lost both times, Fury has two (three) wins vs Wilder. But AJ has beaten more of the guys just below that level.

It shouldn't be true, but AJ had put himself out there far more than both Fury and Wilder put together.
Not saying AJ is the best, as he probably isn't, but at least he's thought a lot more 'names'.
AJ had the Matchroom and Sky hype train behind him. Eddie Hearn was smart how he managed him and took some calculated risks, Whyte and Klitschko at the right times, winning a title against a bum like Charles Martin and unifying in an easy fight vs Parker. I think his resume looks better than it is. Outside the 4 elite hw's it's all big guys, not very skillful but who can take a lot of punishment.

His resume has 2 losses to Usyk and a loss to Ruiz.
It isn't better than an undefeated champion.
You can say who has Fury fought, even if you only consider Wilder & Klitsch top level, he beat both convincingly at the very top of their games.
He does need to beat Usyk imo, to crown his career. We all know he beats AJ.
AJ vs Wilder is the fight to make. I think Wilder probably does land (he did on Fury afterall) but I think more respect needs to be put on Wilders name. I think he knocks out every HW in the world aside from Fury and Usyk.
Whether he's undefeated or not is irrelevant to overall resume. Who's fought the better opposition overall? That would be AJ.
Joe Calzaghe was undefeated but Manny Pacquiao wasn't. But who fought the better fighters? It's Pacquiao.
If the argument is,who has had the biggest wins, I'd put Fury ahead of AJ but I am referring to the overall strength of resume and schedule.
Boxing needs to drop the unbeaten facade that prevents the top guys boxing each other in their prime. MMA has proven that you can still be a box office fighter with loses on a resume...especially if the loses come from top fighters
