In relation to the cut, I will concede that it's an area of concern. It's above the eye, which will impair Fury's vision and if it opens up early, the ref could step in and stop the fight. Naturally, I hope this isn't the case but it's a talking point that could play a huge factor in the outcome.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a huge concern for Fury. I've heard plenty of people who know more about scar tissue than me saying that the cut will likely open up again and if it does then Fury has a very big problem to deal with.

Obviously I hope it doesn't happen because it would give the Fury fanboys an easy excuse and I just want to know who's the better fighter of these two.

Usyk has been hurt 3 times in his career. All 3 stemmed from bodyshots. He is vulnerable to them. Just because AJ couldn't hurt him, does not disprove that statement. During the Dubois fight, it was evident that Usyk was feeling the bodyshots but his composure and IQ were good enough to weather those storms.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AJ hit Usyk with plenty of body shots, especially in the second fight. It didn't stop Usyk. As for the Dubois fight Usyk schooled Dubois for the majority of the fight and then stopped him. The only moment of real joy Dubois had was the illegal low blow on Usyk. Outside of that Usyk was never in any trouble during the fight.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Usyk didn't like the bodyshots from Dubois. His weakness is the body. That's a fact.

Nobody likes body shots. This idea that Usyk is massively weak to the body is backed up by very little evidence and seems to have snowballed out of control by people desperately looking for a chink in his armour. I think Usyk got dropped by one legitimate body shot in his entire career spanning well over 300 amateur and professional fights.

If Usyk is so weak to the body and if he's been sussed out as not being able to take a body shot then this should be a very easy fight for Fury as he can just use his significant reach advantage to pepper Usyk with body shots and drop him early doors. Piece of cake

Usyk coming in at 223lbs.....not 233 as reported. That's just about his normal fighting weight. Somewhere in the process of calling the weight there was a miscommunication fvck up.

Expecting to see the best version of Usyk tonight. Not sure what to expect from Fury. I'm sure he'll try some roughhouse tactics which Usyk has surely prepared for pre fight.

Usyk has been seriously hurt, 3 times in his career and they all came from bodyshots. I'm not sure how much more evidence you need.

Naturally, getting to the body is no easy feat, as Usyk is a smart fighter but if you can get to his body, you will have success.

If you're an analyst and looking at Usyk's game, the body is a clear and obvious target.

The issue is whether he has been disproportionately unsettled by body shots throughout his career......amateur or professional. I don't believe he has and he's no more vulnerable to a body shot than any other fighter. We'll find out tonight

Should be a very easy night for Fury then being as mobile as he is and with such a reach advantage. All he has to do is target that Usyk body and it's an easy win.

Ok that makes way more sense. I thought Usyk was looking fractionally bigger than normal but not 12 pounds heavier. I think Usyk came in at 221 pounds for the Dubois fight unless I'm mistaken.

Yep.....he came in at 222lbs for Dubois......and administered a boxing masterclass

it's the weight HWs usually were until the current gen of 20 stone monsters

example:
Larry Holmes v Muhammed Ali in 1980
both fighters 6ft 3
Holmes weighed in at: 211 lbs
Ali weighed in at: 217 lbs

Yup. Makes you realise people calling Usyk a good littlun is pure nonsense. I don't recall anyone ever calling Holmes or Ali little.

A good body shot will put anyone down but I haven't seen AJ,Wilder or Fury be put down by a body shot, 3 times in their careers.

Just to clarify what are these three occasions? Presumably you're counting the illegal low blow from Dubois as one of the three. What are the other two then ?

I think Joshua in the second fight hurt him to the body in rnd 9 or maybe 10. He's a bigger puncher than Fury though and Usyk survived.

This is a tough one to call. Fury can win it in a few ways by using his physical attributes. Usyk wins by finding angles and out working him in terms of volume. If it goes into the 9th close, I see Usyk winning as he's the better conditioned fighter. Fury I fear will make it a dull spectacle. Fighting on the outside and tying Usyk up on the inside.

I want Usyk to do this and nail the PED taking pikey.

I can't see a stoppage in the fight. Usyk never even been knocked down in his professional career and he's fought big, harder punchers than Fury, while Usyk doesn't really have the power to do it versus Fury, although I guess there is a chance if the cut reopens on Fury it could get stopped that way.

Points decision is the most likely outcome.

Levit didn't put him down. Against Meggidov the shot that put him down didn't look legal. It was a strange low blow/elbow if you examine the slow mo:

Delboy Chisora thinks the Fury cut will open up around the third round.

That Dubois shot was not low

Hopefully Usyk wont have his shorts jacked up tonight, tie them up properly with a belt so he can’t try cheat

Been here a few times now but once again seems like Fury has many, many doubters and so called experts to prove wrong and make look silly tonight, i’d say hopefully they’ll then learn but of course they won’t it will just switch to “oh well won’t beat AJ because he’s so good now under Davison” just because he stopped a couple of journeyman

Fickle

Fury is the best there’s ever been for a reason, he’s fighting injured tonight with a not fully healed cut and still watch what he does tonight.

My opinion hasn't changed, and it's a funny thing to say but Usyk doesn't have a say in this fight.....but hold on here me out. Now what I mean is Usyk will be Usyk he will come, and do him. Fury on the other hand is the boxing equivalent of James McAvoys character from Split. Now don't get me wrong one of his characters can be a focused boxer who made Wilder look like an amateur and is quite easily the best boxer in the division........however we also know that there are many characters in Furys arsenal and one of them made Francis look like a seasoned veteran who should be getting a title shot. Honestly last few fights to me Fury generally looks like he has lost the will to fight and has been semi retired and is just banking the cheques which is fair play to him I guess. Former turns up, for me it's a pretty easy day at the office for Fury, latter turns up Usyk easily wins on points. Unfortunately I feel it's most likely the latter that turns up tonight.....but I hope to be proven wrong. Bring on the fight!
