Playing the ball across your box is a mistake I'd expect my 8 year old to make, but you're right, he will of course learn from it.
1-1 isn't the end of the world, but it will be tough on that big pitch.
Massive mistake for me, but he had so many good moments where he span and played the ball out. But imo it would not have happened had we the out ball we needed. People are saying conte got it spot on and imo he nearly did, had he played giroud I think it would have been EVEN better. All ifs and buts, our biggest issue was having an out ball.
The big let down was Apzi who just dived in and that against a class player like Iniesta. If he stayed on his feet Barca would not have scored.
He was the weak link last night, lacked composure a few times and made a few bad passes.
Undoubtedly a talent but will need to be 10/10 at the Nou Camp to atone.
yeah very very strange for him. I think maybe he thought iniesta one on one could have hurt us? It was all a bit of a brain fart, fabregas hesitation chucked in too.

This. Azpilicueta was as much at fault as Christensen IMO, he just needed to stand his ground and Iniesta wouldn't of been able to get passed him. Chelsea did well though and unlucky with the Willian attempts but I think it's going to be a much more difficult game at Nou Camp for you.
Can never say he was as much at fault, was a reaction compared to the action of christensen. If christensen doesn't do that then no reaction would have been needed.
Didn't think he was very good last night, lack of experience i think as he was more playing the occasion of facing Barcelona than playing his game
First half he passed across his box and straight out for a corner.
Second leg will be tough, Chelsea need to score and to do that need to get the ball off Barca.
thought other than those two he was great, kept receiving the ball back to goal from TC and playing it out, made some great tackles, marshalled defence well.
Barca were just lucky they were playing a Prem defence so were always likely to get chances from mistakes. They have to work harder to score against proper defences in el ligo.
At the end of the day, he was part of defense that managed to keep a side with 73% quiet so no doubt had a good game. We have a similar player in Sanchez who I believe is class but has a mistake in him. Both are young so mistakes are bound to happen but they both have the talent to be great CBs.
At the start of the game I'm sure many Chelsea fans would have bitten your hands off with a draw (preferably 0-0) but I guess going 1-0 up and then drawing is a bit if killer.
I still believe all is to play for at the Nou Camp.

He is young, learning and talented, but he is also playing in a backline of 3 cb's. And yesterday a back of 5. He needs to grow up and and not rely on others. Moses bailed him out yesterday after being skinned. Think he's under too much pressure.
Tbh we've been relying on him this season so your point is a bit invalid. A mistake changes the game. Was poor. But he's been fantastic this season.
Chelsea have a greatchance to progess if they approach the away game in a similar fashion, but as said above you need to be 100% mistake free almost cause Barca showed how clinical they can be.

Fantastic? He has been decent. I tend to look at him with more critical eyes. Fantastic was Alderweireld last season and I don't think Andreas reached that kind of fantastic. But it's promising. He's also playing with 2 other cb's and Kanté, making his job easier.
I just hope that he learns from this game, overall,he played pretty well, but on more than one occasion he played sloppy passes,I wouldn't say they were mistakes,as much as carelessness and lack of concentration.Perhaps he was overawed a bit ,but he certainly has to work on his focus a lot more.
Young defenders have to be allowed make these types of mistakes, pity for you it wasn't in a league game you're well ahead in, but it's all a learning process.
He looks like a serious talent who should learn from the mistake.

Alderweireld played alongside Vertonghen and with Dier and Wanyama in front of him, making his job easier... We can play this game all day long.
Christensen has been very very impressive considering he's 21 and really its his first proper season in the PL.
I have to say I was more disappointed with Azpilicueta diving in on Iniesta, completely misread the ball.
Bad mistake that will cost Chelsea money in the end. It doesnt matter how good he was before.
Game changer in the tie.
I feel like we were headed for a 2-0 win. Would've been an incredible position to be in as if we'd score once in the Nou Camp then Barca would have had to score 4. The pressure on them not to concede would be enormous.
We've got Bakayoko back for the second leg anyway so we've got no fecking chance. We're losing in the tie as it stands
1-1 is a very poor result for us disguised as a decent one. We head to the Nou Camp needing a goal or we're out
To blame Azpilicueta more is like blaming Willian for not passing seconds beforehand, or Courtois for diving the wrong way.
The young lad has to take the blame, and no doubt is.
Im not blaming Azpilicueta, I just feel even though it was a terrible pass from Christensen it was equally as poor for a defender of Azpilicuetas quality to dive in there.
Oh well, Its done.. Just gonna have to beat them on their patch.
