Although I don’t want Puel out. I just want him to do better and look for solutions to the current problem - not just keep repeating the same failing formation with different players.
He’s failing to get the best out of Mahrez and Vardy, our two best players. This is a massive failing on my part.
Absoult cobblers Mersey one of the best things Puel has done is his handling of Marhez through dificult time with the arm round his shoulder he did not get from Shakey and yesterday he saved us and could got a second so you must of been watching a different game.
I think you have to call it as you see it. Nev’s right, sometimes players fail to execute plans, teams play well against us, key decisions don’t go your way or there is just plain bad luck. That’s not down to the manager.
This performance, however, followed a really turgid performance against Stoke. The players didn’t appear to have a plan. There was no rhythm or balance to the performance. We were set up to be totally reliant on Mahrez or Vardy with no obvious indication of how they’d link together or with the rest of the team. This led to hopeful balls, long balls and corners, which are mechanisms that we don’t have a great goal conversion rate from.
Having said all this we could have won. Moments in the game conspired against us playing a team we always struggle to play. If we had won I’d have still said exactly the same things as, for me, a win would have papered over the cracks. It’s not always the manager’s fault, but on this occasion I think he needs to take a great deal of responsibility for an incredibly disjointed display.
Nev,
Mersey is right. Mahrez was, in my opinion, rightly given MOTM by Dungeon as he tried all game to provide the creative inspiration we badly lacked and saved us at the end. This was, however, despite the shape and formation of the side and not because of it.
The number of situations that lead to goals has been lacking for a few seasons now. We don't have an effective target man, we don't often create from set pieces, we don't have an offensive central midfielder -chipping in by making runs or shooting from distance, we don't have an effective no. 10.
This means we have two choices: we evolve the team to play a different way and include players to improve the number of situations; or we have to set the team up to get the most from the tried and tested outlets of Mahrez and Vardy. To be fair every manager has failed to do the former, but currently Puel is doing neither.
The lack of creativity does puzzle me. With Gray, Mahrez and Diabate begins Bardy we should have enough to cause teams problems. But despite those players, we look clueless in hefinal 3rd and that has to raise questions about tactics and formation.
Maybe buy Drinkwater back at the end of the season after his failed move to Chelsea. Who could have predicted that happening (everyone!)...
* behind Vardy.
And Nev, I agree Puel handles Mahrez brilliantly off the pitch.
It’s on the pitch I have the problem!

It's called Evolution Mersey, show some patience and let them get on with becoming a real football team.
There doesn't need to be a cutting edge, no intensity and definately NO hitting them on the break, just possession Football and neat little passes, a bit of patience and the break throughs will come, Arsenal on the box now showing how it's done.
PS - Glad to see Kasper mixing it up a bit and not always rolling it out to a defender but a fair few kicks up field, just need to remember now to challenge for the second ball instead of standing there watching and it's an alternative way of getting it upfield.
Bit disappointed in the players yesterday really, forgot their instructions and threw the kitchen sink at them to get back in the game, all that direct football that created so many chances is so yesterday's game.
TB i find myself agreeing with you twice in one day
Kasper did mix it up. I am more frustrated by Chilwell and Gray players the manager has shown great faith in and not able to put in a performance whist given the space my Marhez and Vardy who are marked out of the game at times
The problem is a lack of consistency ...... from the Manager.
All this rotation nonsense that started before Xmas has destabilized the squad and they've ( especially Puel ) have lost their way, it must be even harder for the youngsters although I always felt there was an over reaction to how much effect they'd actually had anyway, all glitz and no depth or real quality, just a levelling out now.
On lcfc radio
They had ndidi as mom although he made a couple of mistakes
They also made a reasonable point that we are relatively safe from relegation
2/3 points
But puel is now playing with the formation and players ,
probably trying square pegs in round holes to see which players are adaptable and whom he needs to bring in in the summer,
My worry with this idea is has he seen our last few transfer Windows?
I can understand his thinking we are almost secure for next season, that's what the owners want first!
So time to experiment
This is how we got linker, goodwin and a couple of other kids into the team years ago using the last 6 matches
( I think we were also already relegated😱)
Yesterday was a series of unfortunate events 🙄😡
However
What I dont understand with his tactics
Is if we are losing or the players are not applying the tactics or cant because of the opposition,
Then why not have a signal or a set substitute that tells them
To play the all out attacking style for the last 20 minutes
"I can understand his thinking we are almost secure for next season, that's what the owners want first!
So time to experiment"
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That might be true or you might be being extremely generous.
Incidentally that was probably the worst game I've seen from Ndidi, although that's relative as he's got an argument for Player of the Season so far - certainly the most consistent.
Pretty certain the owners would be pushing for a Europa place and wouldn’t accept experimenting because we are safe, that’s totally alien to all of their actions and thoughts so far.
With Arsenal's current form 6th place was up for grabs, just a shame we've been utter garbage for over a month.
No one will be worried about us with our current form over the last 10 games.
The only saving grace is the equally awful form of those immediately around us.
There are 3 teams chasing us down though all with much better form and catching fast.
Is West Brom now a turning point for us to kick start a fairly easy run in to chase a Europa place?
There is zero chance that Claude is experimenting with next year in mind because we are relatively safe.
He has said we need more wins. He knows that 7th might be enough for a Europa League spot. He will have seared into his memory being sacked only last year after exactly the same sort of run of results we are on now.
Which is slightly worrying to say the least given the lack of use of Iborra, Silva and Dragovic.
It’s almost as if Puel is trying to get the sack by repeating his Southampton trick of torturing the fans with the worst football in living memory. Is he a genius that’s looking for the big pay off every time?
Beware the ides of Peter Taylor.
- Upset a dressing room of a good players by not playing to their strengths
- Exited the FA Cup in the Quarters
- Finished the season in dire form
- We know the rest....
..... surely not? Who’s going to be our Aknibiyi this summer?
You forgot to mention about that time a group of prema dona legends past their sell by date who wern't going to give up their big wages to get moved on. Taylor was useless but the managers that have to make changes like CR and CP have to watch their backs.
Nev loves to rubbish past successes and Club idols, how long before he turns on Mahrez when he's gone?
I won't turn on him unless i find out he's got the Morals of an alley cat and trades off his fame at our great club
Ian Stringer has the morals of an alley cat according to his ex but you’ve never turned on him Nev
As far as i am aware Stringy's never slept with anyone's wife at Radio Leicester or abandoned his kids, if he does i will turn on him too

His ex wife publicly stated that he walked out on her and his two children.
‘Former partner Kirsty alleged that he left her for mistress Angela Rawson just weeks after giving birth to their second child.
She claimed that he paid the mortgage on the flat just once when he was on the apprentice, forcing her to sell the property because she fell into arrears.’
