Then you have to ask why managers who apply for other jobs aren't interested in Leeds. Presumably Leeds is seen as a club which lacks ambition, money, a good structure/people and a plausible owner.
PH might turn out to be a decent manager (though his chance of success is limited at Leeds in the current circumstances) but his record doesn't justify the club appointing him without advertising the post and considering other candidates.

They asked for a manager with experience at this level who knows the league. They got it.
Conte might be available soon
Mick McCarthy might have been better than Heck. Not happy at Ipswich apparently.

I am sure the call was for manager with experience of achieving something in this league as opposed to knowing it. I know this league ffs - we have been in long enough now but noone going to give me the job or make me goalkeeper.
Youve seen my research. Its limited i appreciate but none of it is encouraging. I didnt start trying to find negatives. I looked because i was genuinely interested how the board came up with Hecky with all the other managers available and at no cost. Unfortunately the more i searched the more negatives came out.
The appointment worried me big time and i have seen nothing yet to calm me down. Still fuming.
Agree Kebab. Mystifying appointment at best.
Heckingbottom is not only a highly thought of coach, but did well with Barnsley, and only started to struggle after a number of key players were sold. As I said earlier, he won't be in charge of transfers, so I struggle to see how his transfer record is at all relevant.
As one Leeds fan put it on twitter:
"Tired of 'might-be-good' coaches and players.
Stop acting like a tinpot club and use our size
to attract a top manager."
Agree totally
Even if we had brought in Pep Guardiola, we would have still been the shambles that we are now.
The majority of our players have:-
A poor attitude
A lack of skill
A lack of understanding
A lack of discipline,
A lack of ability
And, most of all
A lack of desire and understanding of this league and most of all what it means to wear that famous White Shirt.
Until the owner and his cronies realise this, then whoever is the Coach he will always fail.
You can't polish a Tu rd, or in our case a pile of it.

Top managers don't want to manage a club that sacks a manager every four months. we have a bad reputation, and that isn't going to attract the calibre of coach that you have listed.
Very few clubs in he championship would be able to get Koeman or Bilic. we are not one of them.
^ That maybe so, currently.
And that's a problem; the perception of the club.
The clubs' hierarchy is not trying to change it and
because of that, they're holding us back.
They can change that perception by going after
the calibre of manager I listed. By saying inwardly
and outwardly "this isn't a tin pot club."
It's doable. Club just has to believe it can be done
and then do it. Hiring the likes of Heckingbottom
does nothing but uphold the current beliefs.
I wish we'd have appointed the Wolf

That's an absolute load of nonsense. The club is suffering from the bad press associated with Massimo and the previous regimes. We aren't the pulling power we used to be. These former owners are an issue, and the fact that we don't have the same budget as some of the other 'big clubs' in this league.
The fans don't really help either.

Fair point on the transfers although it does show his ability to spot a player. If he has an excellent transfer record you would trust him more in general to pick the best team and bring the best youngsters through.
It's nothing about pulling power of the club, it's about the owner selling the proposition.
Regardless of club, if owner says, we want promotion this season or next, you have x amount budget, you run it how you want it. We've looked around, we keep coming back to you, spoke to A and B who spoke highly of you, your philosophy fits what we want to do, we want you because X, Y, Z, we want you to take us to the Prem, what do we have to do to make you our boss?
------
Its hard to argue with that, but if the plan is ambiguous, you have to work with Orta, you're not sure the money is there, you can see the social media lack of trust in owner now, and you see managers lasting a year or less, it's just not an attractive proposition for a top calibre manager, regardless of it being Leeds or Burton.
It is however attractive for coaches who think all their christmases have come at once when Leeds come calling, they get Leeds on their CV and get more money than they were getting as they were out of work or working for a tinpot club.

Gutted to see Monk has washed up at Brum along with Clotet and Beattie. AR really should have kept them on no matter what.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Totally agree with you, Best Fans, but AR did not want to do it Monk's way. It would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall during last year's transfer window. Monk must have been on his knees begging for a left back and a midfielder. That was all we needed to get into the play-offs. I think the writing was on the wall after the window closed.
It's too early to write him off, have to agree the Boro line up was a shocker. I hope he learns fast the same line up doesn't work.
We weren't great against Brentford anyway. Viera and Forshaw have to be starting in CM if they are fit.

I think I’d go Phillips as RV has been crap since he came back. There’s a good player in there but he seems way off the pace atm.
