Cinci is right and you have to applaud his honesty.

As has been said before on various threads. Championship clubs have a ceiling which is governed by income. A lot of Championship clubs have a similar income stream and if you stick to that you can only afford a particular standard of player. Which means it’s hard to challenge the clubs with the parachute payments. Quite why the FL allow clubs into their league with a massive advantage over their own clubs is beyond me but these are the constraints put upon clubs like us and the likes of Wolves.
So while we stick to the rules and struggle, Leicester just blatantly cheat and clubs like Watford and Wolves get creative.

We're like the guy lost in the middle of nowhere, asking for directions and being told: "I wouldn't start from here if I were you." Muddled thinking with employees apparently lining their own pockets rather than looking after the interests of the club has left us with a playing staff that has some very decent players but with too many oldies and too many on big wages who are contributing little or nothing. Many also were brought in with little apparent thought about whether they would fit the preferred style of play. That style has changed many times so little surprise there.

Purely for quality we need a new left-back, more energy in midfield and a bit of craft wide. Probably we need another forward. You would think that these MUST be players of a much younger age-bracket. We have experience that could provide a bit of cover for them should they need a spell out of the team. A player like Adam Smith has developed very well at Bournemouth despite few of us, me included, seeing much in him here. At Bournemouth he was understudy to Simon Francis for ages, getting occasional games, and has gradually come through. We could have a similar philosophy of, say, an old pro and a promising young 'un for each position. Young players develop and we don't need to think they must be the finished article straight away. In midfield at the moment we have a load of old warhorses and we can only replace one with another. We don't have a maverick kid option up front or a flying full-back who might be a bit green but who for certain games might be worth taking a slight risk with.

Maybe we will squeak into the play-offs, maybe go up, but there MUST be a re-think on transfer strategy, as Rowett promised when he came. Look at how teams like Bournemouth recruit - OK they got in Defoe but generally they buy young players on the up who fit their style. Morris has to keep faith with Rowett for the time it takes to shed the squad of what he doesn't want and to get in those he does. That might take one or two more seasons, might not even work, but there has to be a better chance of success that way than by what we have done in the last few seasons.

Has anything come of "that" issue at DCFC?

We doubled our money on Shackell and then gave it back to them with a bonus. Plus the other bonus they got rid of Shackell.

I bet someone wishes we had the "German" system, where if you are wealthy enough, you can pay a sum to the court to "prove" your innocence (ref. Bernie Ecclestone)?

Come to think of it, it's just like cheating your way to the Premier League. If you manage it, you can't be seen to have cheated?

Everyone is presumed innocent before being proved guilty 666, but the super-wealthy are presumed more innocent than everyone else.

Employ someone from Team Sky invest heavily in 'ointments', watch in wonder as Bradley Johnson the fastest winger in the Championship fires us to the Title.

All perfectly within the boundaries of financial fair play.

No expert on FFP by any stretch but my understanding is this:

Clubs being assessed on a rolling three year basis has I believe been agreed with the premier league who have now supposedly harmonised collection of fines/ imposition of sanctions etc. The old get promoted with a massive loss and you'll get away with it trick is allegedly no more.

Wolves will have the last two years, plus the current year, looked at by the league for FFP. Most clubs accounts run to June year ends, so I presume that's June 16 June 17 and interim June 18 results. They're allowed 39m in losses in that period, so yes it appears they've got 23.5m to play with, a fairly hefty loss.

Our June 16 results were a 9m loss for GDP purposes. June 17 accounts will be due with companies house at the end of this month, so I expect we'll get the annual press release from Mel in a few weeks. We'll also apparently have given the league in- year info to be assessed.

In terms of should we go crazy or not this summer, I'm going to say we won't have a great deal of scope to, even if the desire was there. 9, perhaps 15 to June 17, would leave only 15 this year, and then only 9 in the year to June 19. Any major spending will require outs before in and careful planning.

The problem with FFP is a loss is a loss is a loss. Splashing out on pricey continentals is probably what it reasonably tries to prevent, but the cost in wages and transfer fee amortisation of a useless lump like Bradley Johnson also leaves you hamstrung. To get rid of dead wood is expensive and means that you are using up your spends on reducing the squad instead of building. Arguably all fair as we're being punished for buying poorly, but it does extend these transitional periods as you've got to try and phase your culling to avoid a heinous year for FFP.

Wiping the slate clean will take a few years to rid and a few more to build I'd reckon, barring a couple of unexpectedly brilliant cheapo signings.

At the end of the day, it's just some numbers innit. A fine article though 666 and a nice change of intellectual pace from trying to spot the deliberate mistakes in match synopses....

Yes, 'plaudits' was what I thought I had typed: I blame Samsung for that one. I do like the Samsung but its predictive text and/or autocorrect aren't a patch on those of the iPhone: it even changes perfectly typed words for alternatives. I wrote and sent a work email earlier this week where it decided that "Jim" should in fact be 'Him' so the guy in question was lauded like a deity throughout.

Ince was a reported 'rising to' £11m fee so we'd not likely get three players to improve us for £20m without gambling on youngsters or lower-league, and there were plenty here who didnt even rate Ince in the first place.

While form goes out the window in a local derby, I can't see our Karanka moulded defence conceding three goals. Especially not against your misfiring strike force.
