Joby I think you posted the same article twice mate.
It's going to be strange not having WBA in the division next season. We've been ruining each other's days away from home for years now.
It was a fantastic goal though. Interesting to see Frank Lampard going into detail over it on MOTD and explaining how much he enjoyed it. Like you say though, it's worrying to think just who will be able to play those balls next season. Albrighton occasionally maybe, but he gets a lot more wrong than he does right and nobody else looks likely at the moment.
Although someone who can play passes like that is Andy King...
Big question for next weekend though: Okazaki or Iheanacho to start? I still say Okazaki for tactical reasons (let him run around for 55-60 minutes then bring on a fresh Iheanacho for impetus and to end it), but it's a tough call to leave him out of the starting 11 after last weekend.
Nice to hear about your big job mate. Good luck with it
Game was lost if Kasper didn’t make that fantastic save, the forwards may get the plaudits but he ‘won’ us the 3 points.
Did notice on Mahrez’s goal the celebration, good to see there are no lingering difficulties betewedn the pair.

Brilliant stuff
It’s back!! Thank goodness for that.
I don’t like change. My Monday routine was almost ruined.
I think most of us will agree that the same team should start against Chelsea.
I like Nacho. I think he’s a class player. I just think he’ll be the natural replacement for Vardy rather than his number 10. Will we keep hold of him long enough to find out if he will? I doubt it if Vardy stays.
If Puel meddles with the team again and we don’t perform, questions will be asked. If the same team come up short and he has to make changes during the game, no questions will be asked!
Good to get back to winning ways!
Bit of different prospect though, Chelsea or WBA!
Hmm Mersey you say Puel meddles with the team he made four changes and we won comfortably. I think it has taken some time for players to get used to what he wants and new players to get up to speed.
You cant just play the same 11 each week with a squad of 25 we are going to have to do what ever team does and rotate.
I see the Southampton players are being accused of not trying again this season and trying to get a second manager sacked.
Of course you can’t nev. but when your changes repeatedly baffle the fans and you dont win in 6 games you will obviously be asked questions.
You go back to what was working and it works
So are you telling me that if Puel once again moves away from what worked and it doesn’t work he won’t be asked more questions? Of course he will!
I don't this mans for going back he is trying to find his best team. Then will rotate within that but i'm sure he will play he will play a side he thinks can beat Chelsea.
You can see we need others to step up and not relie on Vardy and Marhez so he will have to try different combinations if both leave this summer we are fuffed
With that I agree Nev. what Puel has tried with our front 4 hasn’t even worked with Mahrez so far, so he does need to work that one out sooner rather than later!
I think the Malian Pele will step up ahead of Gray, but we need more creativity in that formation than the ever reliable Albrighton and Okazaki. Not an easy transition.
When Mahrez goes we are back to struggling to beat the drop in my opinion. Perhaps Diabate will step up he looks very promising but he’s a different player to Mahrez and no one really is going to fill his shoes.
Cest la vie - it’s been an amazing journey! I’ll always wonder what if I’m terms of when we won the title. What if we had used the money well and actually built something.....
That’s my pessimistic view anyway
BS - we in real danger of “doing a Southampton” that’s for sure. That’s why the summer is critical. Back Puel to being in his players to do his job. He looks an able manager who is tactically strong if not the most boring manager alive.
Or, another change, more ideas and more risk of it going wrong.
If Mahrez goes, I guest we stick and back Puel. I mean, look what happens when you sack him and think you can do better!
But.
If Mahrez AND Vardy leave, well, the blueprint is ripped up anyway. In which case Nacho leading the line in a Puel driven front 4 with Diabate, Ben Arfa and Gray just screams attitude and failure to me!! Maybe a change and another fresh start could be the way if that happened!!
I swear if Puel says ‘with quality’ one more time in his post match interviews I’m going to find where he lives and take a dump through his letterbox. He’s so boring it drives me mad
In terms of a fresh start Mersey - when we had Walsh and Pearson at the helm, well you know the rest....in the hands of Macia and Rudkin - I dread to think
I don’t know what you mean BS. We’ve got all the potential to become the new QPR under their guidance.
And who wouldn’t want that?
Seriously though, where I do like Puel is his focus on youth and him taking a team ethos down the the under 23s and getting them to play in a way that makes them first team ready. He seems a good medium term manager.
Based on evidence so far, he seems a steady enough pair of hands not to let Rudkin and Macia screw it all up!
Has Macia done anything really wrong so far? I've kind of lost track of how long he's been around and who he's really responsible for identifying.
I still contend that the only really awful transfer window we had was in the Summer of 2016 - but it really was majorly bad!!! When you consider the multi millions we shelled out on the likes of Hernandez, Mendy, Kapustka, Musa and Slimani - none of whom are currently playing for us.
From memory I thought that was before Macia was even here. Since 2016 we've signed Ndidi, Silva, Dragovic (on loan), Iborra, Ian, Maguire and Diabate. That looks a lot more sensible.
Admittedly the Jakupovic signing looks strange as does the new contract for Ulloa and, of course, the 14 second late fax is one debacle we'd all like to forget.
For the record, I agree in the main that our transfer policy has looked sensible bar a couple of things.
1. Iheanacho. Apparently not wanted by the coaching staff or Shakespeare. This was the scouting team pushing a player at the manager “because he’s good”. If this is true, this is a sure fire way to ruin a good squad. Transfers need to be looked at as part of a team between coach/manager, scouting network and DoF.
2. The Silva debacle. Enough said.
I can understand Slimani and Musa. One has all the raw attributes but can’t make them work in the prem. it happens. The other was our “Beckford”. We needed a striker and our 1st-6th choice weren’t available so we panicked and went for the 7th. Decent player but not at all suited to our style.
These things happen. Yes in hindsight we hoped for better but we tried to step up our targets after the title win and didn’t quite get it right in the new market we were operating in. Our scouting network won’t have been ready for that.
They should be now though!
Mersey,
That's a very reasonable post. Have you turned into Dunge?
I feel that you need provoking in some way. What do you reckon to Demarai Gray?

String him up from the rafters at the KIng Power and let us throw tomatoes at him until he changes his attitude and gets his head up and makes a pass.
But I don’t really have a strong view either way.
