It’s a straight up fight between Pope and Butland

Couldn’t agree more

All much of a muchness. Three very average 'keepers, all likely to make errors over a tournament if they were made first choice.
You discount Butland for the amount he has conceded (58 in PL) - playing for a relegation fighting side. Pickford has conceded a massive 50 for a Europa chasing side.
But to chose any player on his team performance is rather silly, tbf. Pope plays for a very defensive side, who do it well, so of course he will concede less.

All three are not world beaters.

Butland.

Not having Pope or Tarkowski in the squad. England don’t play defensive tactics like Northern Ireland do for example, so they won’t fit the game plan England are trying to execute.

Probably go with Butland, but they're all average. All better than Hart mind

Pickford's composure on ball helped us circulate round the back last night and actually started the move (in a situation where 90%+ of 'keepers would boot up field) that led to Lingard's goal. In terms of shot stopping, commanding area, is any of them really better than the other? They're all ok but Pickford has a large advantage in his distribution that could well be useful against the stronger sides.

In general liked how we could build up slow patient attacks in part due to how comfortable our back 4 (goalkeeper + 3 CBs) were on the ball. Walker has really developed his passing range since early Tottenham days, striding forward reminiscent to Azpilicueta

Wonder if Southgate is truely considering Walker for a RCB option. He would probably work there, only issue is who replaces him. Personally, don't rate Trippier. Think Alexander Arnold has great potential but is he ready yet? Dunno wtf Clyne is doing these days although at his best for England/Liverpool he'd be fine.

Got no clue why Mawson wasn't at least given game time yesterday when we brought Maguire off.

I'd put Pickford in goal, and take Butland and Pope as.well.

Pickford for me although he will need more games for England before the World Cup as he looked very nervous when the ball was knocked back to him last night.

You can point to goals conceded or even a lack thereof but that doesn't tell you anything. How many should have been saved that weren't? Burnley are a very defensive team and therefore unlikely to concede as many. Remember Heaton was getting call ups before his injury. Butland is a good keeper but I think Pickford can develop into a top one.

Need to work out a few routines for Walker or he will look like a spare part as a RCB
He can advance a lot so the forwards need to come short ,for one twos,or go wide to make space, needs plenty of options
Hes also going to get shooting opportunities so he has to improve there

Surely he won’t put his trust in a player in the bottom three so Hart (will be at end of season) And Butland are out of equation.

Before this season I reckon most would have wanted Butland. Stoke then go on to have their worst season in recent memory

For Everton Pickford has been the one saving grace in an abysmal defence.

Pope has been very solid in a defensive side (4-4-f**king-2) but I feel would need to be long term #1 at club level

Hart has been taking lessons from mignolet, has had his chance and should have been binned after Euro 2016 which would have given us 2 years to find a new first choice keeper. I used to like the guy but now cannot watch/listen to him. Cr@p tattoos as well and just seems supremely arrogant.

Pickford, Butland and Hart will go to the WC. I think if Southgate were serious about dropping Hart then he would not have called up 4 keepers.

Let’s pray Pope does well and Hart is left

Would have Hart there as 3rd choice. Pope can stay at home

Personally I would say the opposite, it’s down to Southgate. But Hart looks devoid of confidence and a mistake waiting to happen.

As 3rd choice it’s highly unlikely that he’d need to play. His tournament experience could be useful though, which is why I’d have him in the squad.
