Rest in peace Ray. Top man . Say hello to our mutual friend for me
Sad news. Don't really remember him at United but he always seemed such a charming man who had a deep love for the game of football.
Sad news, RIP Ray.
Met him in an M&S food store once and most 'celebs' you'd imagine they just want to go about their day and get home, maybe pose for a quick picture or say hello in return.
Ray was so genuine and took the time to speak to pretty much anyone who wanted to see him. Few blokes asking him about footy etc and had a chat for a good 5 minutes each, with him asking questions in return and taking an interest, seemed such a decent guy.
Christ, assumed he'd pull though. Sad to hear I enjoyed him on the radio.
RIP
R.I.P. Ray
a true gentleman of football, liked by all
I've found this really hard to take, I never met him or knew him but I always admired him, I'm only early 30's but the way he was with the players and the club was always positive and came across as such a genuinely decent guy

Does anyone know what might have caused the stroke?
Am lucky to be able to say i saw him as a youngster at Chelsea.
Well needled when he signed for utd in 1979 for £800,000, i think.
84 England caps,Chelsea's youngest captain and a gentleman.
Can't think of anyone with a bad word to be honest!
RIP Very sad, thoughts with his family.
So very sorry to hear about butch....may he rest in peace...😪😪
Absolutely devastated to hear this sad news. I’m the same age as Ray and watched him from the Shed develop his career at Chelsea. Talented and ahead of his time he stood out in that Chelsea side. Well spoken and mature beyond his years. Tears rolling down my cheeks now, so sad. RIP Ray and thanks for the memories.
RIP Ray. The only Chelsea manager with a 100% win record.
