There are no excuses, simply just not good enough. We need a first choice keeper, not 2 reserves, a dominant CB, another goal scorer, can't keep relying on Billy and struggling when he's out or not scoring, plus we need goals from other areas, especially midfield, yet they seem scared to shoot.
What if when Billy gets back, he gets injured again in the first 10 minutes?
Regime change needed NOW!
My point exactly Mooligan or suspended as he is a bit fond of picking up the cards, plus he will have spells when he doesn't score and dips in form. We used to score a lot from midfield yet now the contribution is minimal, is it just personnel, is it tactics, a bit of both maybe. One thing for sure and Oster did it yet again, we cannot keep passing up shooting chances, if you dont buy a ticket you won't win the lottery and if you don't shoot, you won't score, if you don't score you won't win games, if you don't win games you will go down, it's not rocket science, yet it's alarming that the attitude of players with respect to shooting is not changing and is not more positive.
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
FFS back yourself and shoot.
its the boards fault,we didnt get the decisions, billy sharp is injured (never thought he would be),i could go on,just remember sod is the best man for the job no other manager can work with the same budget if when we get relegated he will fetch us straight back up
will that do
We could get Ray Wilkins on a comeback wasnt he known as the 'Crab' as he could only go sidewards?
By the sound of SODs Radio Sheffield inter view he has lost the dressing room.
The point about confidence is fair DRFC4Life. I don't know if you are old enough to remeber King Alick's return to the Rovers when he stopped shootin because he felt he should score every time. I remeber talking to his dad about it and was told it was lack of confidence and fear of failure.
The following season he was shoot on site, the result? 42 goals that season.
Its like the old days at Belle Vue when you bought a 'Golden Goal' ticket.
and it said 2nd week in december !
Something else to consider is that we don't have a second team for players to regain the confidence when it has gone or to get fit after an injury.
I remember Alex Murphy at Huddersfield RLFC when asked by a player why he was in the second team this week.
Alex's reply was simple, " Cos we don't have a third team Kid."
Bally - I remember the King's 40+ goals, what a great season. However, the lack of a reserve team is a big problem - how do injured players get match fit? Of course, not that we have enough players to field a reserve team!
Yes Mickey, the big thing was the partnership between Alick and Laurie Sheffield. That's what we need now, apartnership like that. Just like Kitchen and O'Callaghan. No matter how good Sharp is when fit he still needs a big man to get the ball down for him to score.
Sorry NYR have to disagree, Sharp has scored 15 goals in each of the seasons he's been with us previously, and when has he had a big man up front to get the ball down for him to score, I remember Copps and Hayter with assists, I can't even remember a "big man" playing up front for us in the past 2 seasons
Exactly my point Donny Lass, just think how many MORE goals Billy would score if he was poaching ala Jimmy Greaves.
Many of Billy's goals have been created by Billy himself, his job is to score and a two man attack of Billy and someone like Brendan would be tremendous.
In fact if you can think back to King Alick, that's where Laurie Sheffield came in, not six foot three but rose as if he was, and put the ball in postion for Alick to score. Oh yes, Alick could also score from 30 yards but he also scored many supplied by Laurie.
We fall down by playing Billy as alone striker.
