The most boring manager to ever grace the championship.

Good luck with the pasty one.

Play offs.

Next?

Not guaranteed is it?

My ticket feels luckier than yours.

Perhaps Derby are more likely to make top 6 than we are to score before end of season

We need to spend money in summer that is for sure.

I know we are all panacking after what happend this time but if we don't then we go down. We have hardly scored this season when you look at it as a whole.

Now as soon as we concede first, it is a loss.

It is embarrassing though that this season yet again has been a near disaster with only by the very smallest improvement being that we should hopefully be safe before the end of the season. To be worrying yet again with only five games to go is embarrassing.

I think that sums the situation up nicely.

Barnsley play Bolton this Saturday, a win for us v Ipswich should do it.

Wolves tomorrow night is a free game.

Lose to Burton on Saturday and we don't deserve or want to go up.

Believe it or not Canniggia I'm a pragmatist so that could be the defining game with still a few winnable games at home and especially the Cardiff one.

I’d be worried about Millwall if I were you

Mick McCarthy has left Ipswich with immediate effect, just in time for them to get the momentum of a ‘new manager’ arrival effect, even though it’s doubtful they will have one in place in time. Could the football gods be conspiring against us, if they did we’d probably deserve it.

I’m seeing a lot of cloud and not much silver lining again...

Sunderland and Burton can’t catch us. Small silver lining 😬

Saturday a huge game. Barnsley nine points behind and Bolton seven. Bolton lose and they are seven behind with nine to play for. Barnsley lose and they are nine behind with twelve to play for.
Presuming we will draw another blank against Ipswich. Pitiful on so many levels.

Despite the poor run it was still a decent transfer window.

Main problems were that we still didn't get a LB (how many decades now) and we didn't get the one or two strikers we were after.

Murphy was ran into the ground, Vellios hasn't stepped up and Brereton is 18.

Cummings and Walker not the answer, not getting a replacement was the bigger issue.

If Cash isn't fit, then surely Osborn moves up to midfield? Lichaj into LB. If Cash is fit then Lolley slots in for Tomlin.

That's a grafting side right there, Worral for fox. Sorted.

I thought we played OK without scoring, which is the objective really. We gave the ball away too easily at times, and made some poor decisions.

We all know where the problem lies. We have scored 43 goals; Sunderland have scored 45. Take away the nine we scored against QPR and it looks even more dismal. None of the strikers are good enough for the lone striker role and probably never will be. It has been screaming out for a second striker all season but neither manager has been brave enough.

My team for starting next season (leaving out those we have on loan) would be:

Kapino

Darikwa Worrall Fox Fuentes

Cash Watson Bridcutt Osborn

Brereton Lolley

If Figs signs as is expected I'd play 3-5-2. Signing Pants, Colback and Tomlin will be difficult but fingers crossed. There will be more leaving than coming in but we need to do whatever it takes to bring in at least two strikers

Yes, I hate this current trend for one striker upfront. Not many players know how to play the support roles well enough at the championship level to make it work consistently well. Usually teams copy whoever is successful in the World Cup so hopefully it will be an all out attach type of tournament.

Also can’t agree with not playing Lichaj at left back. He is the best option and has played well there previously. Release Osborn to go and energise the midfield and it would pay dividends IMO. Also get Cash back in the side ASAP.

Murphy has a lot to prove. He will be on a decent contract and hasn’t proven value for money since early in the season.

posted on 11/4/18

Murphy hasn't done anything since playing for Ireland. I keep hearing a lot of excuses from especially Tails regarding this. I never thought he could score more than 12 ish goals a season because of his age and the number of games: so why let him go and play international football at 35? when the club are paying his wages every week.

I still say it was a mistake to send Walker to Bolton and why not give Bridcutt a game? because Karanka didn't buy him?

posted on 11/4/18

Walker has no future with us as Karanka doesnt rate him and dont want Lichaj at left back, he plays right back or not at all for me

whats the story with this Fuentes guy who is suppose to be a left back?

The Fuentes mystery! Has there even been a sighting on the training ground. Was it all a mass hallucination?

posted on 12/4/18

The mysterious Fuentes is on loan I believe, so will be going back to Spain I hope.

I really don't understand why Karanka keeps playing Osborn at full back. Everybody by now knows to attack down our left and play fast high balls into the centre; against a big fast moving Centre Forward Fox keeps getting caught out and bingo!

However these are all good reasons for giving a manager two season's to build his squad and put a plan in place.

Fuentes not on loan. He's ours. On an 18 month contract. Murphy has another two seasons

posted on 12/4/18

NP says Fuentes is on a short term deal to the end of the season.

posted on 12/4/18

Karanka said a couple of weeks ago that Fuentes was struggling to adapt to the pace of the league. Doesn’t sound promising.

posted on 12/4/18

You and NP are correct Will. Here until end of season. It is Kapino who has an 18 month deal.

Thanks for pointing it out.
