Feel a bit sorry for Wenger.
has never really had the backing of the club financially compared to some clubs but always has them on the cusp.
when you look at what we, city, liverpool and chelsea have spent, then Wenger has Arsenal where they really should be

Why are you copying and pasting this bs across threads?
We have the 4th highest net spend over the last 5 years, since the renegotiation of deals tied in with the stadium move, and one of the highest wage bills in Europe.
He most definitely has had the financial backing of the club.

Well with 4th highest bill we actually got 2-nd, 3-rd, two 4ths and one 5th in the last 5 years so where's your point. Plus don't forget the 10 years before that where we were not 4th but actually bellow 15th in net spend and always got into top 4.
Wenger's time is up but we never actually financially competed with the other rich clubs.

i am trying to be funny
My point is rather obvious - Mr Wenger did get the financial backing of the club once the deals tied in with the Stadium were able to be renegotiated.
Since then our net spend is only in the shadow of the massive spending of the Manchester clubs and our wage bill is as high as it can be.

Chelsea spent more than us. The teams that actually spent more than us won the league. What a surprise.

When Chelsea won the title their net spend between 2013 and the day they won the league was less than ours. It was only since then they have slightly overtaken us - and will finish 5th
Why 2013 - if you pick 2012, 2011 in fact any other date range would show they are before us in net spend . It's a little bit creative selection in my mind - the only period in the last 15 years that we were just slightly ahead of them

Because that is when the sponsorship deals that were tied in with our mortgage were renegotiated and changed the way we could spend.
Make sense but the we inherited a lot of cheap players and we had to spend something just to be competitive in the beginning. Our net spend from 2003 - 2013 was negative after all unlike Chelsea's - the highest spenders at the time.

Well yes. But the financial backing was there, once we were in a financial position to do so, contrary to the original point. However, the spending hasn't been especially great, and Mr Wenger finds himself 6th in the PL and in the Europa from a top 4 position when belts were tightened.
I agree. At the end signing Xhaka and Mustafi and persisting with them after it was clear they would not deliver was the final straw and the reason we got where we are.
