Oldham 2 rovers 1.
26 to rip the net open from 26 yards to make it 4 goals from 35 apps i think.

Well a dismal season for me in the DLP! Can't see much motivation for us but loathed to forecast a loss. So it's 1-1 again, Copps to score a hat trick but two disallowed. Crowd? Possibly 5026.
Thought about an article re "Size matters". In Rugby the size of players has grown significantly since I played in the pack at 5' 11" and just under 13 st. Now I wouldn't make it as scrum half. Seems to me whilst football is becoming more of a contact sport allowed by refs, strength and size do matter these days, especially at our level. We seem to be getting bullied off the ball far too often. Is it Time to bring in some bulk?

Nookie....he always scores this time of year

Potentially Oldhams last league 1 home game and our last away one will see 5555 see a 2-1 Rovers win with Marquis scoring.

I hope we contribute in Wimbledon going down. Went last year and it took ages to get too! Weren't overly impressed with them either or the ground! Rovers 3-1 winners at home and 6789 there.

I thought Lawlor would have had a game in either of the last two - hope he is not too rusty! No Copps again - pity, I was going to have him scoring. Anyway, Oldham 1 Rovers 2 with Whiteman scoring the first. Crowd very difficult to guess as gates have been all over the shop. My usual way would guess quite low - just over 4000, but will some go for once last cheers for safety, or have most given up? I've added a few for one last cheer, and so 4776.

According to bbc stats.
0 shots on target but at least we are in leauge 1

Lanza, I do not agree with the Beeb stats - there was at least one that was directly at their keeper. The iFollow coverage was the worst in that the camera was fairly low down and so it was difficult to judge distances. e.g. early on I was thinking bring Marosi on as it seemed Lawlor was too static when he should have been going for the cross - maybe I was mis-judging distances and he was not.
Overall, a very frustrating game with the usual failure in the final third. Also not the intensity shown in the Blackburn game.
When you start the game with two strikers whose first touch was poor most of the time, it is little wonder the lack of clear cut chances.
Marquis needs to train his left foot as he had at least two opportunities for a shot with his left, but tried to work it round to his right and lost the opportunities. I know without him we would have not done what we did last season and this, but a little improvement on his left side would show great gain.
I like Whiteman - but I do not understand his current reluctance to shoot.
Amos was one bright spot as he showed calmness and some potential - he was caught out of position on occasions, but that was probably because he was not sure whether he was a left back or left wing back.
Beestin, May and Kongolo had little impact. Why DF plays Kongolo I do not know - when he arrived I thought he showed a little class, but now he seems lethargic and lacking in effort.
The team are having another end-of-season slump - as I am on DPL!

Thanks pdx
On kongolo i wonder if df plays him to get his apps number up so city can look and see we have played him so we can have future loanees from them

I wasn't at the Oldham game but I saw Danny Amos in a cup game last year and he looked good. He should be a useful alternative to Danny Andrew, as Tyler Garrett seems completely out of favour. (Does anyone else remember Amos and Andy?)

Albi, of course some of us are old enough to remember Amos and Andy! Probably not PC these days.

When you listen to the interview with Danny Amos you soon know this is no just 18 year-old "kid", this is a professional footballer. Hopefully, if he keeps his level head, and is given the right opportunities to progress, he will become a star - watch out Danny Andrew!
Actually, with Andrew at left back, and Amos at left centre field, we have two genuine left side players! I thought Amos' deliveries from set pieces was good - probably better than Copps whose have been falling off his standard of late.
Next season is going to be very interesting.

PDX according to DF he says we didn't have a shot on target .
He says thats not good enough and is looking for more goals

OK, Lanza, I saw what DF said, but I still remember one soft shot straight at their GK.

New Subject: DF's comments about wanting players who can stay fit - is that a not too subtle announcement that Baudry will not be offered a new contract? Is that to sign Anderson?

Another New Subject: Lanza, my wife and I just drank a bottle of red wine from Tenerife and enjoyed it so much we have bought more. I'll be pouring it at our "Cranky Brit Wine and Whine" monthly luncheon on Wednesday.

Sounds a good lunchtime indulgence pdx.
You can raise a glass and toast me having this stupid pot off at 2.45pm.
A settled defence is a fantastic base for a team.
Its not often on here that we are in agreement but it does appear that we are on players we would keep and release this end of term.

A win tonight 2-1, Marquis, 7826

posted on 1/5/18

We are agreed on Kongolo. Amos n 2 Andys in the defence could be the future and I too remember the old TV show. Injury patterns are interesting and you wonder if they are related to training regimes. In SOD’s time there were the hernias and now we have knees and ligaments.

Butler headed over the bar from corners 2 or even 3 times while I was listening and it does seem that they currently have a chameleon-like characteristic of adjusting their efforts to a level around the quality of the opposition.

Only a win will be a satisfactory outcome tonight after what we have endured recently and I hope I shall be able to stay awake until nearly midnight local time to enjoy it.

I hope Marosi has not been cast aside again in favour of his rival who seemed to only have to stop shots straight at him.
