My sad black pill view on Superman is he is too intrinsically good and noble for audiences to relate to.
---------------
Maybe. Marvel made that work with ultimate boyscout Captain America though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Captain America is a goody-goody, but he was (prior to the MCU) a B-lister at best, arguably C-list.
If you did a vox pop on Reading high street in 2005 say, of 100 people. 100 would know Superman, a couple might know Captain America.
This meant that they could modernise his image with no baggage of legacy fans saying 'Not my Captain' etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree to a certain extent. Iron man also benefited from that B lister foundation, as nobody expected or knew much about him.
The reason I'd go JJ for a JL movie is because he's good at making one off movies. Star Trek 2009/Super 8/Force Awakens(had potential). His issue is sequels.

I dislike both those films
the sandman is out on netflix now, getting good reviews
If they recast the whole JL, who are we getting in?
Superman = Richard Madden
Batman =Jon Hamm
Wonder Woman = Olga Kurylenko
Green Lantern = James Marsden
Martian Manhunter = Idris Elba
Flash = Miles Teller
Aquaman = Alan Ritchson

Miles Teller would be better as Batman. Can imagine his Bruce Wayne would be fun too.
Richard Madden is already playing Ikaris a Superman of sorts in Eternals so I don't think you can consider him. Also he's about 5'10 so not really tall enough to play the last son of Krypton.
Some nice choices there but do we really need recasting though
No we don't need recasting, it's more of a what if. Current casting is pretty much spot on apart from Ezra Miller. He doesn't look anything like any comic book iteration of Barry Allen. No idea how he got the part tbh.
WB must be regretting ever casting him. Last I heard he's currently wearing a bullet proof vest whenever he's out and thinks he's being followed by both the FBI and KKK lol.
Where are you hearing this from?
Think I heard that particular rumour on a YouTube vid about him. But just Google Ezra Miller and take your pick of reports on him:
https://www.yahoo.com/amphtml/entertainment/paranoid-ezra-miller-wears-body-191838689.html
https://www.businessinsider.com/ezra-miller-flash-running-a-cult-grooming-minors-carrying-guns-2022-8?r=US&IR=T
https://www.indiewire.com/2022/08/ezra-miller-iceland-tokata-iron-eyes-1234748157/amp/
Very concerning as it does appear that the guy is losing his marbles and suffering from extreme paranoia. Seems like he's going to end up in prison or a mental institution at this rate.
I agree that the current cast for the JL are a good fit, minus Ezra Miller and Mamoa. I'd prefer a more traditional looking Aquaman, hence my suggestion of Alan Ritchson. He played a great Aquaman in Smallville.
Jon Hamm as a older Batman would work so well but he could play a few other characters such as Two Face/Green Lantern/Mr Freeze/Joker
I never cared for JL - would prefer characters in their own movies, or more contained universes like The Bat Family.
JL movies should be like Avengers movies. They are the cherry on the top, the grand finale movie but everything before them, should focus on the individual characters and stories.
To be candid, I only really became an Avengers fan after the first movie. Prior to that, my favourite groups were X men and JL. The JL animated show and the animated movies are terrific.
I just find end of the world plots with heavy CGI and Batman fighting aliens distinctly uncompelling.

Well it's just a white guy in a suit really.
The guy from the flash TV show, does he look like the flash?
The one from the comics is like Arnold Schwarzenegger muscles. That would look hilarious in DCEU.
I think they should recast Flash and spend the extra 100m to reshoot and push release data back. It does mean the movie will be a loss maker most likely but also means the movie will have to excitement and could generate interest in a Flash universe
Flash Groomer isn't viable.

But the avengers v aliens was cool, right?
Not really. Avengers was at its best when it focused on Loki
I liked the Thanos arc but the least compelling bits where when the heroes fought big CGI armies in Wakanda and then Avengers Compound.
No stakes no feeling
Most my favourite Avengers moments are smaller and personal but in terms of action I much prefer seeing characters I am invested in fighting each other like Civil War than fighting a monster army like Endgames third act for instance.

Pretty much why I didn't care for the latest dr strange and Thor movie.
Just too much magic abilities (cgi) barely any real action- the real action is minimal.
At first a few years back, it was great but it is getting a bit too much.
It's why I thought daredevil and the punisher were brilliant shows, just full on smashing the sh!t out of each other, and it was actually the actors doing most the work.
Practical and physical effects are a big part too, I agree.
The fact Batman fought everyone with heft and physicality and with a camera that wasn't cutting all the time was such a joy
I really like the fights in Civil War and Winter Soldier because they are more contained but also more believable and I really care about what's going on. Some of the more CGI heavy ones lokd GoTG2 work for me because I found the story compelling but even then I realised it was a lot of blue screen.
