Not read the book but the critics say the movie is not like for like.
The film I really enjoyed but I had nothing to compare this with. Very good film and plenty of 80s nostalgic.
seen and read them both.
Book is far far better than the film. Film is quite a bit different to the film. The book is far darker and goes into way more detail.
The film is worth a watch but would have been far better if it wasnt a PG.
The quests that Parcival does is completely different in the book than the film and his life is far more bleak in the book than the film.
I seen the film first then read the book and I much much preferred the book.
the film is basically an easter egg film about easter eggs !!
Cheers Del - yeah from the trailer it looked like it was almost completely different to the books. Will give it a watch then and see what its like. I was unsure as I didn't think the book was particularly a YA thing until I saw the trailer for the film...
Reading Altered Carbon next before watching the netflix series.

yeah the world also seems to be a lot poorer and bleak in the books. I dont wanna spoil any of it by telling you the difference in the book. Have you read Armada by Ernest Cline ? I havent but I think its kinda along the lines of "the last starfghter" film and is also supposedly excellent.
Not yet mate but having read Ready Player One think I will check out a few more of his books to be honest.
I loved Altered Carbon, really loved it. Brilliant series imo.
Not read the books, probably quite different given the subject matter and amount of depth a book could give to it. Was confusing enough on TV.

got this to watch, my mate says its excellent though it takes a good 5/6 episodes before everything makes proper sense and starts falling into place.
Westworld was like that though and that was brilliant
Season 2 just started as well, need to catch up on that.
Altered Carbon has been recommended by a few people that I know, although its probably closer to the book as its a series rather than a film. I often think adaptations are much better when they are in the series format.

I finished Altered Carbon last night and wasn't too impressed by it. A bit too wishy washy.
