Didn't realise Lineker got over 100 goals for you lot, how many seasons was he there?

Nice story, you must be proud seeing your Grandad on that list of Leicester legends.

In regards to Vardy, my all time favourite player ever, and is still underrated by non Leicester fans for me.

Massively!

I recall Talk Sport doing a chat about whose goal was better that weekend against West Brom(think it was Gough and Durham) Vardy's or Rashford's?
Rashford's was good mind, but the type of goal you would expect of at least 9 or 10 other strikers to be capable of. But how many would be able to execute what Vardy did that day?

1978-1985 I believe - quite a decent stint. Made his name at Leicester before his move to Everton and then Barca

6 full seasons for Lineker I think.

I think you just dropped a name there, Cheesy. Let me pick it up for you...

I'd be interested to know relative scoring records in the top division. Shouldn't affect Vardy too much of course as he wasn't particularly prolific in the Championship. It was Nugent who scored 20 goals the year we got promoted.

Very tidy return over 6 seasons, especially given his age/experience at the time.

Funnily enough, Lineker really did live up to the Fox in the box label.

I remember when Cruyff made him play as a winger for Barça. He still absolutely gave it his all despite being way out of his depth there. I think that alone earned my respect for him more than all his goalscoring exploits.

When you look at how good his stats are it makes him a bit underrated in terms of England's greatest strikers. It's not always a name people instantly throw out.

7 seasons of scoring 20 or more goals, including in La Liga. Same as Shearer, and 5 more than Rooney. He was quality.

Where do you think Vardy will place on the list when he retires/leaves Leicester?

Still expecting him to move away following Kante and Drinky, and probably Mahrez, or staying for a few more seasons until his prime is over?

No reason he couldn't be 4th in a year or 2

Depends on the manager, currently he is so starved of service he hardly gets a kick. He should be on at least 20 goals this season. he could get to 120 + if managed correctly.

There's no reason he couldn't make fourth if he stays a few more seasons, as long as Puel gets sacked.

But he is the only one to make that list in a long long time. That makes him ever so more valuable right now

Strange to think that we had Smith (another signed from a non league club) and Lineker here at the same time under Gordon Milne in the early 80s.

Vardy's right up there with those two for me. He's something special.

Vardy is one of those players that just keeps growing in his career until you suddenly realise the quality he possesses.

He’s easily a top premier league striker now and we’re lucky to have him. Puel has totally nullified him though and he’ll quite rightly be off of Puel’s not. Pointless having a top striker if you cut him out of the game entirely!
