you were finishing 3rd in the old second division while liverpool and utd were battling it out in europe and the PL.

———————-

Liverpool finished 7th and went out of the UEFA cup in the third round in 1999.

On this note, why is that one solitary season we spent in the third tier in our entire history banded about like it somehow defines City as a club?

It doesn’t. We’ve spent almost 89 seasons out of 116 in our competitive history as a top flight team.

I loved the third division had a brilliant time with the fans down there and it’s part of our clubs history.

Just another part of the rollercoaster that is being a city fan.

I wouldn’t change it for the world.

Liverpool pretty much invented the 'supersub' by paying players more to sit on the bench than first teamers were getting everywhere else. United more seasons than anyone else were the ones breaking the transfer records, in the days before the TV millions. Clubs have always been funded, way back even before Arsenal bought their way into the First Division, the sums have changed, that is all.

Can they repeat it next season, that is the question? They've never been great at defending titles so far.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not likely, going by the past 5 seasons or so.

I don't have a fancy scientific explanation for it, but it seems the league simply comes down to whoever has the longest freakish run of form and fitness over the 10 months.

This exertion has led to defending champions suffering some spectacular collapses the season after.

What a totally joyous night last night. Records broken. Even with a much changed team we still managed a bit of style, and we gave Yaya a good send off. As I've said before, as many other have said, as he said himself - City joined the elite in 2011 in the instant he ran over the top of Vidic and left Van Der Sar for dead. Never had a better day as a blue than that day.

The only one I felt a little sorry for was Danilo, who had a stormer, but kind of got eclipsed by the big man.

Mind you I expect the Rags are preparing a good send off for Fellaini at the weekend - after all he has been their standout player in the same period.

He has been amazing for us, although I would have found it amusing if they had also presented him with a cake as well at then end

You'd swap all those records for a title win by a single point and the CL trophy though wouldn't you?

End of discussion. United 99 reign supreme. The greatest team ever seen on these shores.

Yet calling Liverpool Historypool

Keep hanging on to the good ole days, 5 years and counting since your last PL win
----------------------------------------------------------------------
like Liverpool, united are a team with history, so i see no issue with looking back at it.

you guys on the other hand... well until your sugar daddy came along, your last league title was in 2001.... the 1st division

you were finishing 3rd in the old second division while liverpool and utd were battling it out in europe and the PL.

whilst i have no love for the scousers... at least they have history worth bragging about and didnt have to be be financed by old Mansour to be a success
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that’s what you call bitter.

Dunc wins the award hands down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Our last league title was 2016/2017, not sure what he is waffling on about either
