Puts us in a bit of a pickle.
Mel has said the books need balancing and that means a top manager won’t be interested.

IF he goes, I'm not bothered about a top manager, give me a lucky manager any day of the week......
stoke hoping to agree compensation with derby in the next 24 hours.......
I'd take their tricky Shaqiri, straight swap in part-ex.

There is no "think" about it Jorv.
Should add some spice to the games against the Potters next season though if he does go.
Whats the betting it will be the opening game (we ALWAYS play either a relegated Prem team or a promoted Div 1 team first-up)?
Think we all know who Rowett's first signing would be.
There maybe more than one.
If we were to bring in a Manager with clout, maybe the likes of Vydra will stay. If we bring in someone like Darren Wassall, no offence to him, but we're likely to be losing more than Vydra. Carson will be off as well - possibly others.
Proves what someone else said on the forum last week (Griff maybe)? Rowett was not thinking of Derby when he turned them down in January. Judas Mk II
Good point about Rowett taking Carson. They will need to replace Butland because he won’t stay at Stoke.

Well it keeps things interesting I suppose......
Perhaps we are going about it the wrong way Scouse. Maybe we should support a particular player. 666 could support Keogh for example. Then you support whatever club he is playing for until he moves.
There’s no loyalty anymore. Money talks and that’s it. They’ll say they won’t come in your mouth, but they always do.
Heb’s right. The closed season has become a bit more interesting.
If Gary goes to Stoke, we will need to appoint either a new man - and invest again in new transfers, or promote from within. May be Darren Wassall - already tried and found wanting (a little) or there may be someone else in the club who has attracted an interested look from MM. I suppose it will depend on Mel's true attitude to not investing more in transfers, none of which have been particularly successful, and on what is to become of the Academy? It is intriguing to speculate as to what might happen.
But I'll be there next season whatever he does.
That was for Scouses comment
I have got 3 words....
IGOR, IGOR, IGOR!
Makes you wonder. Maybe Rowett didn't fancy Stoke last time because he thought relegation was nailed on and he didn't want to be tarnished with that brush. Maybe Mel was smarter than previously in at least making sure that if the manager goes we get some money rather than shelling out millions to the sacked manager.
Does Morris actually want Rowett to stay I wonder? We haven't played the attractive football that Morris used to bang on about once upon a time. If Morris wants to keep him and he goes regardless then it suggests he doesn't fancy trying to make ends meet next season and prefers the rebuilding he will need to do at Stoke to finishing what he has started at Derby. Even with parachute cash it won't be easy to get Stoke to Championship speed - many a relegated team has struggled in recent years. Maybe a move suits both parties. I would love to know what Uncle Mel thinks.

Thats one word. Three times.
I'd be very surprised to see him leave for Stoke. The club is a mess with it's recruitment whilst Hughes has been there ( see QPR ) and will need a major re-build job.
At Derby he probably needs 4- 5 players ( RB, LB, CM, Winger and Striker). GR had shown his loyalty to Burton Albion when Championship clubs showed interest him in the past and has recently stated the same to Derby. Appreciate a football manager's words no longer have the same meaning to them they may have done years ago but I think GR has a little more integrity.
It's interesting to witness Rameses trust issues, but I'd rather not think about that.
David Moyes is your man, you heard it from me first!
The Stoke Sentinel believe The Potters are pushing against an open door in their approach to Derby about a Rowett.
Perhaps as Vidal says Mel isn’t too bothered.
I don’t think you can blame him for going to see what’s on the table, I am convinced Mel won’t stand in his way either, not as attendances are down.
I would rather he stay for the stability but it is looking unlikely.
I hope he goes!
If he stays cant see Derby being more than a mid table team playing unattractive football in the process, if he goes we'll probably be a mid table team playing better football

GR must have been on a knife edge at times last season, so a great opportunity for Morris to save some
cash and let him go.
Rowett is a more saleable asset than most of the players.
