I don’t know about Dean Smith being a safe bet but he is the one I hope we get. There is a chap on DCFC Fans who has sometimes given reliable gossip in the past and he claims that Lampard has been interviewed but will not be offered the job. He says he has no idea who it will be.
Makes me wonder how long the courtship has been going on & whether Rowett got wind of it ?
It could be worth a punt. He is one of the best midfielders ever, an attacking player which will hopefully run off in his coaching ethos, Harry was always attack minded as well. He has won everything there is to win at club level. He will have contacts worldwide you would have thought, hugely respected with enough clout to bring in promising players on loan or on permanent, finances allowing of course. Sure, Clement didn't work out but that shouldn't mean Frank won't. Gun to my head I would still prefer smith but I wouldn't be disappointed in giving lampard a crack.
Jody Morris would be intriguing, hasn’t he been coaching Chelsea U23’s who have been consistently the best young side around for a good few years?
Lampard is a massive risk but he doesn’t seem the defensive type which most have cited as one of Rowett’s biggest flaws.
I think its the perfect time to have a gamble.
Next season is most likely, at this time, going to be a mid table season, were not going down and probably not going up so why not have a gamble
Frank Lampard seen coming out of McTurks on the Morledge.
Said RD.
Well if you’re going to have a kebab there’s no better place. Show’s sound judgement in my opinion.
Be interesting to know how much salary he'll be demanding, what with having to "slash costs"?
According to the Ipswich forum £1M per year.
So that will be a payoff of £2.5 on a three year contract to get rid of him, when it turns out, like the many before him, just because you were a very good footballer doesn't mean you'll even make a half decent manager.
Of course he could in the minority and turn out to be good but is it worth the gamble?
Depends on what you want: stability is Big Mick, but even with the revolving door we've had in the past few seasons we've maintained our position as challengers without ever looking likely auto contenders.
Change requires changing something, so why not a progressive young untried coach who would surely have an attacking impetus? The closest we came to promotion was playing expansive ball under Schteve and, even if we don't get up, at least the games would be entertaining again.

Shearer one 1 of his eight games in charge of Newcastle losing five. Pearce won the league for Forest but ultimately got sacked after failing to hold on to the title beyond September.
I suppose a few have done ok Keegan and Hoddle both managed England and our own BC was a star player Dave MacKay. Oh FFS there’s loads who made it.
Notts fans are having a giggle at the prospect of Lampard being our next Manager.
If he is chosen, then i hope he's not accompanied by his Uncle.

Gary Rowett - arguably
I'm not opposed to Frankie, but his mrs is a bit of a munter.
Totally off topic but worth a re-post:
"A good friend of my brother's, who lives in Liverpool, has two tickets for the Champions League Final. They're box seats, and include return travel and hotel accommodation in Kiev. He didn't realize when he bought the tickets that this is the same day as his wedding - so he can't go. If you're interested and want to go instead of him: It's at St James's Church in Bootle at 3pm. Her name is Susan."
Latest odds at 12 o'clock:
Sky Bet’s odds on Frank Lampard becoming the next Derby County manager have shortened from 4/6 to 1/4!
Here are the latest odds:
Frank Lampard - 1/4
Dean Smith - 7/2
Mick McCarthy - 12/1
Martin O’Neill - 14/1
Darren Wassall - 16/1
Steve Clarke - 20/1
Scouse I like your joke I've been chuckling for half an hour. Or is it a true story?
It looks like it's going to be Fat Frankie, I'll give him till Bonfire night and if we aren't above Stoke he can go back to wherever he came from.
I saw those odds but some media outlets are saying Derby are going to take their time to appoint someone so I don’t see how Lampard can be odds on in those circumstances. Maybe Skybet know something we don’t.
It's nothing to do with how likely someone is to get the post, it's done on the amount of money placed on the person.
So put £100 on Rowett and he'll jump up (or is it down) the odds.

How old is she Scouse?
Too young for us Ramdini. It's not the marital duties, it's having to listen to Radio 1 that would worry me.
