If it is Lampard, I'll have a punt who'll be his assistant.

As much as Clough going back would be amusing; Lampard would be absolutely hilarious

I'm happy with either.

Remind me how the proven Championship managers Warburton and Karanka have got on at your place? Your logic is flawed.

How do you think this will go?
Is it 'worth a punt'?
In Derby's dire situation is it the time to be gambling? It reeks of the guy who has bloodshot eyes at 5:00am in the casino in Monte Carlo, putting his car on black!!

I hope, and I sincerely mean this, he doesn't make your situation worse.

Certainly wouldn't put it on red, always a let down but hey you know that already.

Welcome aboard Frank

If he applied does he not have the right to an interview?

Clint Walker has died, he was a hero of mine when I were a lad. The signature tune was Cheyenne Cheyenne where have you been camping tonight.

I wonder if he would have made a good football manager?

Bronco Layne was another favourite.

Only if short-listed Tommo. Or out of courtesy.

Frank Lampard oh dear, well at least there will be some one good looking in the Directors box to distract the mutton heads from the score board!

By half way through next season you will all be wishing Lozenge Head didn't push out G.R!

You really coouldn't make this up what a shower; MM is the new fawaz without the hair or the tan.

Remember the Derby way? does Mel because he's gone seriously OFF MESSAGE.

I will miss you once your in Division 1 bye bye....

I will answer this as if you were posing the question seriously, Strett.

I would be against it. I think there is tremendous risk. I would prefer somebody who had done well previously at lower levels or smaller clubs, and who wanted to step up in his career, like Dean Smith. But there is risk there too. Derby (and Forest) have had all sizes and shapes of managers, pretty much, in recent years. I was against McLaren's appointments both times, thought Clement was ideal, was unsure about Pearson and Rowett. Fans know nowt and you just can't tell how things will pan out because there are all sorts of things behind the scenes at clubs that we are not privy to.

What are Lampard's motives? Does he genuinely want to manage for the rest of his career because the day to day of football is so much in his blood that nothing else will do? Or is he just giving it a bit of a go, safe in the knowledge that if he fails he has a cushy life of punditry as a backup?

I suppose I would find it reassuring to some extent that Lampard would want the job in the first place. If all is dire as you suggest, why would he go into a no-win situation? At the very least he must think Derby are a better option than Ipswich.

I would be very happy about Jody Morris being part of it as he is said to be very highly rated wit the young 'uns at Chelsea. That would suggest a bit of a longer-term plan which is needed.

For me it is not a risk worth taking but of course it could all go very well. Brian Clough did not have much experience when he came to Derby. Lampard has always come across as a very likeable and intelligent guy but that means little. It would be crucial that the right people were around him. I guess he would be working as a coach so would need a Director of Football type who he trusted and who could take all of that stuff off him.

Could work and I would be excited by the prospect, though also terrified. I reckon it comes down to his character and motivation. When things are not going well, as will surely occur, how much will he be hankering after London life and the easy money of the Sky sofa?

Did you see my previous message? I meant it. If you have the issues I suspect I genuinely admire you.

It's a good analysis, Vidal.

Would he want money? Who knows. Will he bring John Terry and see it as a personal crusade to say to the English football followers that they are the real deal?

He does come across as intelligent and ticks a lot of boxes as far as corporate appeal goes, too.

How would he be with the academy? Wasn't GR tasked with using it more, but didn't? You spend lots on it and see little reward.

The big risk must be, does he bring uncle 'arry with him? By all accounts you are sailing close to FFP violation, so are these the best combos?

Many questions hang above this appointment which, for the sake of the long suffering fans, need addressing.

Forest, Ramdini are the most stable and dare I say it, best run, most Forest fans have seen for many a year.

Most are optimistic about the coming season, we have a proven manager at this level and a budget to strengthen. Season card sales are up again and there is a real feel good about the place after we have gotten rid of Mel Mo... sorry Fawaz.

Juxtapose that with what you guys are going through and you can see why there is a bit of concern.

It's just a shame that both of our great clubs don't seem to be able to get it together at the same time.

Look, if you appoint someone who was a good player once and is now more at home working at the world cup for the BBC; who has no experience or evidence that he possesses any of the necessary skills and qualities to be a successful coach, it should be seen as nothing more than a gamble.

Is that what you need right now?

You're very sunny side up, Strett. Forest flirted yet again with relegation and the performances deteriorated after Karanka came in. He has a proven record of being absolutely tedious as well as mentally unstable. The owner had an incredibly shady past with various extremely serious allegations of match-fixing, drug-trafficking and others which continue to hang over him.

Forest seem to always have a "real feel good" about the place, no matter what. I remember your eulogies over the magical football under Montanier, for example. The best you had ever seen I think. It's quite charming to see the naive optimism each year, undented by the wisdom of experience. Long may it continue for you. I predict a bright start, a long decline, 4 or 6 points for Derby against Forest and us finishing way, way, above you.

As per.
