With regards to the Managerial situation. Did I imagine this or have I read something about we are waiting for a 8 mill release clause to expire at the end of this month? (tomorrow).

posted on 30/5/18

Yeah it expires tomorrow, but why are we waiting for that!? All I see with that, is De Laurentis, keeping him on gardening leave forever.

I was under the impression that the negotiating had all been done already with the next one that we will sacking, but we are all just waiting for the time to pass so that there is no chance that any legals could be put on us for a fee.

It’s frustrating waiting, but it’s too early to start panicking about transfers and our managerial situation just yet.

Said this last year as well.

In fact, the most recent summer window that we actually got most of our business done early was the 2014 one. The board seem to love last minute deals however, considering the shortened transfer window, world cup and the fact that our rivals are already moving very quickly makes that an extremely risky tactic this time around.

How long is the transfer window open for this summer? Does it close before the season begins?

and on the OP...

I think its ridiculous that we wont just be aggressive and pay the €8m release clause for Sarri, Especially when you think we paid £90M on Bakayoko, Drinkwater and Barkley all of whom may not even be at the club by the time the season kicks off!

I understand our fans’ skepticism, especially after last summer, however we haven’t made it out of May yet. I would give it another week before doubting our board’s competence.

I had no doubt about our boards competence 2 years ago!

My faith in them is lower than a rattlesnakes belly in a copper mine!

A lot of good players were deemed not good enough by Jose during that period Brummie

I had no faith in him either Sidey!

Although we still need to make a couple of signings, I think it should be a season (similar to Klopp and Poch’s first season) where we let Sarri sift through the players he likes and dislikes, and then build on from there.
---------------------------------------------------------------
I agree with that.

The only important signing we need to make, just to make sure Sarri can implement his philosophy to allow him the freedom to shift through the squad accurately, is a defensive playmaker. If we give him that, and we get the right player, we've had a good transfer window (regardless of all the filler signings we make around it).

Only irritating thing about that is, which somewhat proves the point of the article, is two of the best targets are already effectively gone - Jorginho & Fabinho.

If we somehow managed to sign Verratti, and no-one else, stunning window

Maybe Conte is staying after all, and all the kerfuffle is for nothing. You know not to be manipulated by the media and yet you can't help yer-selves ...

The board that some members here have "so little faith in" have an impossible job. They were labelled "naive" when paying over the top, in the early days and now when they are sticking to guns , as negotiators have to , they are being called "misguided".

Napoli haven't hired Ancelotti without terminating Sarri for no reason, someone is trying to penny pinch to acquire his services. It doesn't take a lot to see what's going on here.

Them's a lot of pennies in 8M euros....'specially since receiving earlier criticism for our free spending activities, I for one am happy to see our board playing tough , with other options (so i'm media informed) available.

Isn’t Roman going to be pre-occupied with other issues? Is he even allowed in the country yet? How are the Russian sanctions affecting the money you have to spend?

This is how difficult it is when you can't offer CL football to top players...

We've not turned up at times in the season and are reaping all the rewards that brings gs now....I fear for our transfer window frankly

If the likes of Fabregas baka drinkwater and Barkley are our midfield next term...we're facked

I think we'll sign Seri from OGC Nice, Hes a very good technical player and will slot right into Sarris system.

The aim next season has to be top 4 but I wouldn't be surprised to see us go and win the title (if we get off to a good start and build momentum)

A good window for me is signing a new GK, Centre Mid, Right mid and probably a striker too.

Recall Loftus-Cheek and Zouma.

Sell Pedro, Drinkwater, Cahill, Courtois, Zappacosta and possibly Fabregas.

also Hudson-Odoi must get decent playime!

Arsenal are interested in a 34yo bosman and a nearly 30 yo journeyman CB.

There relevance to top 4 discussions is in the balance. They need major investment this summer.

Chelsea start from a much better situation but agree they need to move quickly on the manager front.
