Goodbye Fergie

I think I've seen Kevin Nolan suggested too and he has had a couple of good seasons with Notts County. He was the man Alladyce used to take everywhere when he became manager (Micky may not know this) and he was a very successful goal poacher whilst at the same time being deeply unpopular with West Ham fans. That type of background sometimes is good for successful management and he has had a promising start (yes Dickov was that type too I know!) but I would see him as a good candidate.

If it is down to McCall caldwell and nolan.
No real need for any further interviews

I'd love to have seen the applicants I bet there were some crackers but ones the board felt didn't fit or the applicants were prepared to work with a shoe string budget. McCall for me over any I've heard. If Nolan is another in contention I wouldn't be disappointed with him either. If it's Caldwell we're screwed.

I've said before, but you have to applaud the Board for going through this process. As well as making a rational appraisal of qualifications, the leaking of names enables reaction and comment particularly from fans, because if you were in the Board's position you would think very carefully before appointing someone who would be unpopular with the fans from Day 1.

Having said that Caldwell did get Wigan straight back into the Championship, but despite limited time, failed in a low-budget situation with Chesterfield.

I'm not totally convinced on McCall, but I wouldn't argue with rest of you. Nolan is a runner for me purely because I think he probably has drive and determination and has worked on a low budget. Caldwell is perhaps not as entirely unsuitable as I first thought.

McCall and Caldwell have turned it down that's why it's not been announced. They thought they'd got it down to two candidates but had to use a get out of jail card. They asked both managers back for talks knowing their budgets to get promotion were miles apart but it gave them an excuse to interview McCann, even though he didn't make the finale 6. As being out of the country Was a rather nice excuse so they've played on it. Sold out for the cheap one again. All those managers and virtually all of them turned it down before it got short listed yet we could end up with one with just over 100 games under his belt.

Allegedly.

Allegedly, McCann to be unveiled tomorrow as our new man.

I'm so out of touch - which McCann is it? ex-Perterboro'. ex-Dundee, or what?

Grant McCann (38) from NI. He was successful (40% wins) at Peterborough last season winning 50% till a 7-match losing streak got him sacked.

He probably had more money there, but he was inexperienced yet successful and may fill the bill better than those who seem to have turned it down.

Allegedly......... He had a budget of 1.4mill at Peterborough, never got em up or close to it. What the hell can he do on our budget that is 200k less than the previous year and the reason Fergie walked. Hope there is a meet the board/manger this season.

Do we know what our budget is?

Shrewsbury and Scunny probably have less than us and we do have some developing talent, but it is certainly a challenge.

Would we favour a takeover I wonder? That is probably the alternative.

Would be good to have a manager who put players in their favoured positions, played with some width and encouraged players to get into the box when we attacked.

Just noticed BVZ that you say that GMcG didn't get Peterborough close to going up. They were 6th after the Christmas fixtures.

well its official , Grant McCann confirmed as new manager

Don, were was he 2 months later though.
Like Fergie did, we were top for ages, needed a win from last 5 games. Came 3rd in a one horse race.
He will either be the messiah taking us back to the promised land or a very naughty boy and gone by Christmas. Trouble is most fans look at this as a cheap option. Who ever took the job had to work with the staff already here, only problem is young Gorden has already handed in his notice. You can't make it up.

Hey BVZ, Gordon Strachan has just been on Twitter and said tha a Donny fan has called him Young Gordon.

As for McCann, as we all know, even if we are bottom at Christmas, it is unlikely that our owners would sack him.

Good luck to him anyway, hopefully the football won’t be as boring as it was last season.

Hound at least our end of season form will improve

posted on 1/7/18

Hound he's not the man I'd hoped for but we've got to back him. He has gone up in my opinion when his first press job he came out and said promotion was the aim this year. A couple of signings, put players in there proper place, play some attacking football in our opponents half, mostly play to the finale whistle and we should be in for a good season.

Got to sort out this Twitter 😂

Houghton signs a 2yr deal at MK Dons 😮

Never his greatest fan sorry

Thought he was the best thing since slice bread when he first came here. Then when he came back you could see he wasn't bothered or just not good enough for league one. Would of picked Luke in front of him all day.

Supposed to be signing a midfielder today/tomorrow.

A striker is in the pipeline but there's a bit of difference to what were offering and what he thinks he should be on.
