Jack's off

Sad day. But tomorrow will be full of joy

He's posted a statement now too.

Pretty much says that Emery has told him that he won't be a key part of the team.

In all honesty, I absolutely love that ruthlessness from Emery. It really shows how Wenger has had our players wrapped in cotton wool over the years.

Big changes ahead, I can't wait. See ya, Jack!

Average player

Probably go to a lower league side

Not willing to fight for your place. Not the right attidute.

Wish you all the best for your future Jack.

Your attidute is not right for a club like Arsenal.

Should have signed that contract while Wenger was still in charge.

Right move for both parties, not good enough to start regularly for us and he needs to go somewhere like Everton and start regularly if he wants to have a hope of building a career and getting into the England set up.

All the best to him, would still like to see him succeed; even though he'll never get near the player he could have been he could still be a decent PL/England player if things go right for him.

I think letting him go is a sensible decision. Whilst he excels in some things, he is deficient in some key attributes required to be considered a top midfielder. It's better to let him go and bring in a player with a more rounded game than keep him on a hope that somehow he'll overcome his glaring weaknesses.

And?

Money apparently not the reason according to Jack. Emery said to him that his playing time would be limited.

You can negotiate playing in contract. In fact, most players and agents do. Would have been more likely to get his wishes under Wenger than the new manager

Apparently he agreed to stay on reduced wages, but decided to leave after Emery told him he wouldn’t play much. Looked on the cards, especially as Torreira looks close to joining. I’d have been happy for him to have stayed on the reduced contract as I still think he could have been useful. But there are other players we could bring in who can probably do a better job, and he wouldn’t have got playing time he wants.

Could have been a top player, and I still believe if he can stay fit, he can be a good Prem player and get back into England. We saw at times last season that he has a lot to offer a team still, it all just depends on if he stays fit. He won’t ever reach his potential now, but I hope to see him playing back to a good level at regular basis at a new club. Sad to see him go, but it’s probably the right decision.

My overriding memories of him mostly are around him dribbling past someone straight into one or more players, where he gets muscled off the ball and is left lying in a heap and looking frustrated that he wasn't awarded a free kick

This was the right decision for all parties. As already mentioned, he never fulfilled his potential in a career that was heavily impacted by the injuries he kept getting (partly I feel this is because of his playing style), but whichever way you want to look at it, he wasn't contributing significantly to our midfield, either offensively or defensively.

It's sad to see his Arsenal career peter out like this, but this has been on the cards for a while now.

Gunnerthru, in all fairness Jack hasn't played much. Even though last season was the most he's played in years. With Xhaka signing a long term, Torriera looking to come in and Ramsey being the focal, he's playing time was severely going to be limited. Not to forget Elneny also in competition for the midfield place alongside Maitland Niles and Iwobi as well.

When the manager tells you, you're not part of the plan, it's best to leave and go where you are wanted.

Jack should've been his generation's best midfielder but it hasn't worked out. Although still 26, he can make a name for himself elsewhere, though the clubs he's been linked with aren't so great in UK.

Priority should be to be fit and get regular games in. Hopefully he goes abroad to Juve.

This is the saddest departure since Henry left.

Will be interesting to see if someone can coach him better as well. He was many of the players under wenger that never improved, and started regressing. So long as he’s fit he’ll probably be a decent player still. He’s still not old, so can have a good career still, especially as he’s not exactly played much. Might be sort of player that could benefit from a switch of roles
