Them losing in the final would be particularly pleasing for me. The scenes of English heartbreak beamed around the world. Tremendous that would be.

I love it how some people think that by getting behind a certain team, it'll have any effect on the outcome

I have many Scotish relatives (all Celtic fans with quite a few season ticket holders) and always enjoy going up their for weddings, new year... etc. Unless like me you have regular contact with these people you can't possibly understand how they feel about the English because as soon as the subjects brought up intelligent family men can turn into snarling animals. Although I enjoy the wind up you have to know when to stop.

I was working in the East End of London for some security firm from June-September 1978 and popped into the now defunct Volunteer Arms pub on Blackwall Way (by the tunnel) after work from time to time. I managed to time it nicely with Scotland’s group games. There was a tv hoisted into a corner and only a few regulars were paying any attention. Apart from all the local banter and the “all right me old china” talk I remember hearing one voice shouting “c’mon Scotland ffs” and someone shoving money into the jukebox to play “Ally’s Tartan Army” throughout the evening.

Ha! Ha! Great times! 😀
