Didn’t see all of their Poland win but it looked like they had lots of pace, energy and movement. We may have to be very patient as we don’t want the game to be too open. Could be tight.
Honestly think karma is going to get you and you lose this match. Belgium trash Japan like 5-1 or so at the same time. Backlash will be unprecedented.
Not wumming here but I think making so many changes just changes momentum and gambling on 2nd place to play columbia will do you in.
I think in the Euro 2008 we trashed Italy and France, then we made 9 changes to play Romania, still won 2-0 and then we played Russia with the first 11 again and lost the match. You change the dynamics of the team and it breaks momentum. I dont understand why its done.
Would be interesting to see if the previous champions would also have changed their starting 11 or kept the strongest team out throughout the tournament.

Both teams gambled last night, all we learned was that Belgiums reserves are slightly better than ours.all this momentum talk is nonsense to me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Its a psychological thing probably, but when you get into a zone it gives you that bit extra.
They will cause us problems.
We will cause them problems.
Could go either way and will probably come down to who finishes their chances.
What do we know?

I agree in principle - and there were too many changes.
But there is an alternative scenario we now won’t see. Southgate goes with his strongest XI; we beat Belgium and then Japan in the last 16. In the QF, Brazil keep the ball really well and we are looking ragged, out on our feet. Suddenly talk of a winter break resurface, and people ask why the strongest XI played a dead rubber.
Lots of ifs, I know, and I doubt this was Southgate’s reason. But it is something of a Catch 22.
I don't think the likes of Kane, Sterling, Lingard, Alli, Henderson, Walker, Trippier etc will be in a different frame of mind at all after watching a completely different team lose last night.
Momentum shmomentumm, last night was a nothing game, as shown by both team selections and the lack of a single hard tackle or dispute between players/managers on the touchline, no one cared.
No injuries, no reason for first team players to be down beat, Columbia may have watched on and learned zero about us from that match too.
Tough game on Tuesday, very much winnable but those first team players need to come in and perform now

Early goal from a set-piece is what we need. If we go behind it could get very tough.
It’s also worth considering that Colombia were playing a must-win game yesterday. By all accounts they struggled to get going and scored a single, very “English”, goal. Senegal are useful but hardly giants of world football.
According to the Observatory of Economic Complexity, Colombia is the 55th largest export economy in the world.
Its top export would indeed be cocaine, estimated at $10bn, it still accounts for less than fossil fuel exports, with coal, crude and refined oil bring an aggregate of over $15bn a year.
Coffee, as most will have guessed, is its top legal agricultural export, bringing in around $2.5bn.
Colombians, however, did not traditionally drink coffee. Indeed, it is thought to have first been imported from Europe in the 1700s by Spanish missionaries, who planted it at some of their missions and later encouraged local farmers to grow it as a cash crop.
Nowadays, however, it's becoming increasingly popular, especially amongst middle class Colombians. Many smaller estates have broken away from the large transnational companies that came to dominate the coffee trade, and have launched their own brands.
Local, regional and nationwide coffee competitions have become commonplace, and coffee has become as popular a drink to discuss as wine or beer might be in Europe.

Agreed.
It's definitely going to be a game of two halves.

Think you've hit the nail on the head there guys. Definitely will be whoever scores the most goals gets to go through.
As opposed to it being a case of one team expecting to dominate, you dullards.
