McModric is right. What a guy!
The fact there was a World Cup final at stake wasn't enough motivation for Modric and his team mates, it was Shearer's apparent arrogance that tipped it for him, is that what were expected to believe?

I'm sure they were already more than highly motivated, this was just another bit to increase it.
He doesnt have a point. no one disrespected them. he sounds like a chit winner.
No being funny there is a good reason modders wasnt tired. he's clearly on the juice.
Yeah, how dare pundits give their opinions on factors that may affect the game such as Croatia playing extra time twice. The point was valid that it may have made a difference. It didn’t, but pundits are paid to give their opinions and that’s what they did.
To be fair, Rio Ferdinand did say beating Croatia would be "straightforward".
But then that says more about Rio and his consistent England failures than it does about Croatia or this England team.
The best teams always create a siege mentality and use these things for motivation. I'm sure England have used it before against bigger teams. It's part of the game.

There is a difference bewteen giving a balance opinion and completely under estimate the opposition. I think it was Rio who said after the France-Belgium game that he totally confident and can see England scoring 3 or 4 goals.
What about just saying, it will be a tough game for both team and because of the fatigue, England might just edge it?

I didn’t know that Ferdinand said that, but someone saying “Hey, this team has played extra time twice so they may be a little more tired than the other team” doesn’t seem like that outrageous a statement to make. It did turn out to be wrong of course though.

Why is that facepalm worthy?
Tbf the pundits should be flattered that their opinions matter so.much to the Croatoa players.
The world cup coverage serves a more casual audience so the punditry will inevitably have a more positive spin. Hardcore football fans, and especially football players, should take it all with a pinch of salt.
As others have said, winning the world cup should be enough motivation.

He must have exchanged more than just shirts with the Russian players.
meant to say 120 mins 3 times on the trot in quick succession.
All of our players looked tanked after an hour. he looked like he could play another ninety mins after the game.
Good job he's had a short season with no CL campaign to contend with

So?
our players were struggling to move during in play.
So?
Well, this is exactly what he was talking about when he referred to the extra motivation. On "normal" circonstances, he'd probably gave up. But have you ever tried to prove someone wrong? You get that extra push. Doesn't have to be drug related.
It was an easy game for Modric. Up against a midfield that is anything but solid defensively and offerring little supporting the attack. Better look at our own failings before we start pointing fingers about gear etc
Frankly it's a sad state of affairs when proving a point to a bunch of pundits, who never won anything at internationsl level, is a greater motivator than reaching a world cup final for the first time in your country's history.
In his assessment that they dominated the game in all aspects, he seems to have forgotten the first half, when we should have killed them off.
