Probably getting his excuses in early and making sure he has something to moan about in the build up
It could be a slow start to the season for lots of teams.
Problem for Puel is that a slow start for him is a big problem for his perception as to whether he’s turned things around from the second half of last season.
Hopefully the new signings bed in fast and we have enough strength in depth to navigate the first 5 games to give us a platform to build from.
I’m not confident. But anyone who reads our page a lot will already know that.
Honestly I don't know what to expect,
Im not over enthralled by the signings so far,
We need another CB minimum
Im hoping to see a mix of holding & counter attacking football
If he does this and the results go against us he'll be safe till Christmas
But if we get last season's fiascos
Id bet on him getting his p45 by November
Nobody should be missing from the opener really, barring injury/suspension of course.
Look at Wes previously. He had non-stop football and still started the season.
The players involved in the World Cup should be fitter than most even after 2 or 3 weeks rest. It's just tactics & formations they need to get up to speed with their teammates and new signings.
It shouldn't be an excuse. A good few training sessions on formats, together with the friendlies should put every player in tune to what Puel wants this season from the off.
If James Maddison starts the season & the new right-back, then i can't see us playing for possession as much as last season. These 2 players, along with Vardy are driven players, direct, hit 'em where it hurts & fast. Don't muck about - go for it.
