United bought Pogba for infinitex the amount more than they got rid of him. What’s your point?

The way I heard it we’ve been tracking him since his days in Brazil and he was available (obviously as Roma brought him) but at that point there was no way he’d have got a work permit. Wasn’t even an intrenational at that point I don’t think.

That version probably doesn’t sell papers or get people clicking though.

The point is, Liverpool could have saved 65 million euro had they recognised the talent. Nothing to do with Pogba. Not sure why you bring that up, I am not a United fan. Its not a wum either, just that a good scouting system or taking a small risk can save you millions or make you millions in the long run.

So we should buy every player offered to us, incase he turns out to be a great player?

I don’t get it

As per my post above, best case scenario is we could have signed him and loaned him out as we’ve done with Allan.

I’m sure the club wish they’d done that now but hindsight is always genius.

We were offered him for £4M...

We turned him down...

We didn't see his outstanding talent...

Liverpool could have saved 65 million euro...

Is that what you wanted, if so there you are..

Ah well.. we took up the option to buy Coutinho for 8m.

We've bought quality in Alisson, no question about that.

Richarlisson.. is he a quality player?

No, I am not wumming, I am not calling out Liverpool, I am not saying he is a poor keeper. Its a football forum and what happened now seems to happen more often. And thought it was worthy of a discussion.

We let go Janssen because we thought he wasnt good enough. Eventually AZ sold him to Spurs for 18 million. Why did we think he wasnt good enough? I would say when these things happen, the club would analyse and try and prevent that from happening again.

Now you say, we dont care, we are minted, 65 facking million pound wasted is still a LOT of facking money to be wasted, even if you are minted.

Every top club will make literally thousands of decisions on talented youngsters every single year. You can analyse the decision all you like but the simple fact is that every club will get some of those calls wrong. It’s just not possible to be right all the time when there is so much uncertainty and the history of football is littered with examples of players that could have gone here or there but didn’t.

What’s important is that you don’t let one bad decision become two bad decisions. In other words we had an opportunity, perhaps a second opportunity, to sign a player the manager thinks can make a difference and took it.
