Buying someone from a championship club, who im not sure will suit our game and isnt even THAT young, to me over £20million is ridiculous.

Problem though, needing homegrown players, we aint finding anything cheaper than that in the current market. I just hope we can get a deal done for him under £30 mill and he turns out okay. What worries me is that he will be our 'big' signing..

It's a bit like a dodgy pen. If it's your player you claim it and if it's the opponent to deny it. Same with Levy in my opinion.

As a fan I want him to spend money on top players. If I were in Levy's shoes, I'd be doing the same as what he's currently doing.

Difficult to please everyone.

BUT - I don't think it takes breaking the bank to sign just two quality stars to add that final touch to a very strong core. It might get done still but leaving it late in the window doesn't help our preparation.

We never blow anyones door's off with a can't refuse offer so everything is a struggle. Pool just doubled the world record for a keeper and United Just paid 52Mln for a Brazilian who's track record is in Ukrainian footy !!! Chelsea paid 57 mln for Jorginho and barely anyone batted an eyelid.

The dumb thing about levy is that the couple of mln he saves in penny pinching over transfer fees would probably be offset by paying up early in the window, having the squad far better prepared and organized resulting in a better start, a higher place finish and more cash.... Typical Spurs..... Miss the big picture

Agree totally with you on your second paragraph. Who knows what that little bit better preparation/start to a season could lead to for Spurs. Could make a hell of a difference to the club's fortunes come the end of the season, both financially and in footballing achievement.

He’s 23 in September ffs. People talking about his ‘potential’ as if he were 19. All this overblown hype because he’s english and he wears his socks low just mask the fact that other players around Europe are far further ahead talent-wise than he is at the same age. He’s about the same age most of us knew that Tom Carrol was shiiite

Grealish is a stupid transfer, will cost loads more than he should and he'll never be a regular.

posted on 24/7/18

It's pretty simple - if he weren't English, would Spurs be after him? Course not. It's a home-grown quota signing. Massively overspending, which makes no sense considering how Spurs penny-pinch when it comes to far better prospects.

I think the potential factor carries a bit more weight than it would usually when you attach it to Spurs and Poch, given what he's been able to do with many of our mainly young players.

I don't exactly rate him that highly though, I'm more holding on to the hope that he'd surprise me, but as it looks like we're interested in him and doing fack all else, I wish we'd just get on with it and get him.

spurts

spurs get you to the point if you're a weak fan like me that any signing would get you excited, then you see that player pass the ball in a spurs shirt for the first time out of play and you can moan again

Even if I am at that stage now Phenom, part of me thinks Grealish could be good, and no worse than Winks is now. Watching one of those Youtube highlight reel videos kind of helped get my optimism up.

Winks is different, more of a deep lying playmaker. Grealish when ive seen him doesnt look capable of this. But i have a little faith he could take some reliance off of Eriksen regarding creativity.

I doubt he's going to provide the goal threat that Eriksen would playing in that number 10 position, but again it'd be something I hope he could prove me wrong about.

dont think anyone will, but he can be an understudy and offer something as a squad player. Squad players themselves cost too much too these days.

granted we sign a central midfielder i am more than happy about this transfer if it goes through

Is he better than Eriksen? No.
Is he better than Alli? No.
Is he better than Lamela? No.
Is he better than Dembele? No.
Is he better than Winks? No.

Might as well buy back Alex Pritchard and be done with this home grown issue - which is a joke to begin with.

Spending £20m+ on a player that won't be a starter and won't be a spark off the bench consistently - you might as well promote a youth player and spend that extra £20m on getting the likes of Kovacic.

i can see Dembele and Toby staying for another season then leaving next summer. Surely if selling Dembele was on the agenda then we'd be more proactive in finding someone else. (we all want this even if he stays) and same with central defenders for Toby departing

Well for one he plays different position than Dembele and winks ( who is incredibly overrated by some of our fans ).

He’s 22 who can hold the ball, dribble with it and is very creative ( created the most chances in the championship last season ).

People acting like he’s 30 ffs

Well he might be as good as Winks and Lamela. Those are the only ones I'd refrain from saying 'No' to.
