Ince to Stoke

We sold him to Udders for more so unlikely. I thought Ince played well in his final season with us but prior to that he varied between being an asset and a liability. Lost his scoring touch at Huddersfield which was hardly surprising when the ball very rarely goes in to the opposition's half.

Also see that Charles Vernam has gone to Grimsby. Yet another academy graduate who didn't make the grade.

Ince is quite a selfish player which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but if he has better players around him they won’t like it too much if he keeps shooting rather than passing. That’s why he won’t be a successful Premiership player. At one level lower he can be forgiven for a bit of greediness because he can be a match winner as he proved for us more than once.

He will fit in with Rowett then just like he did when playing under the Judas git🤦‍♂️

I hope when we play Stoke the left back knows Ince always cuts in and shoots with his left foot.

I could never understand why so many teams let him do this while he was with us.

I never liked Ince or his mum and dad, troublemakers IMO.

Team spirit has seemed much better since Ince left

I remain of the opinion that he takes away as much from a team as he adds.

Team dynamics are just as important as individual players, and with Ince you always get the impression that he doesn't really fit, those around him get frustrated, regardless of if he's doing well or badly, so he ends up moving on.

Reading between the lines of the parting comments you can see 'overpriced and replaceable' and it makes sense for Huddersfield to cash in on him for practically what they paid, having only lost out on his wage for the time he's been there and avoiding any further payments to us if there were any clauses in there that might have triggered them.

Be surprised if he's at Stoke for more than a season or two.

£8M rising to £10M....which you may well have received, as I'd assume the add ons were largely based on us staying up. We've turned a small profit on the deal to Stoke as it's £10M, potentially £12M based on Stoke regaining their PL place. His ceiling is definitely the Championship so I'd say we both did okay off the back of his transfers.

Ince was playing OK before Rowett arrived. Then his form went off.

Vydra was struggling when Rowett arrived but the following season was leading goal scorer in the Championship. It would have seemed more logical for Rowett to sign Vydra. It's a funny old game.

I saw one report saying we sold Ince to Huddersfield for 11.3 million - which is a bit random.

I thought Ince was best under McClaren. Others will not agree, I'm sure, but Rowett's negative tactics did not lend themself to Ince's attacking style.

As Spart says, if you don't play in the oppositions half, you won't see much of Tom Ince. I wish him all the best though.

I think to go for a deal like this GR has to be slightly in panic mode, perhaps not trusting himself to choose from less well known personnel. Now that things have turned out for a better Derby County we should stop being so resentful of GR's treachery. I was never that impressed by Ince and maybe Stoke did us a big favour really. We were in a terrible rut last season and it would have been hard to get out of it. Now we have a chance.

too early to say if we're better off without GR, Frank could turn out to be a disaster like many ex players on their first management jobs, but I do think GR has just sealed his fate with this signing, feel sorry for any Stoke fans reading.

At the time we thought Rowett had spent the Ince money well in the shape of his replacement Lawrence.
Many got on Lawrence's back but not me, Vidal or Spart.
If rumours are true Rowett has tried to raid Derby for Carson, Lawrence and Davies and has been unsuccessful leading to him going for Ince.
I think Lampard's approach will help Lawrence find the form he had at Ipswich and I am confident that he will prove to be a better asset for us than Ince will be for Stoke.

How has Ince managed to amass such transfer fees on his career? It is one of the mysteries of the modern game. A show pony who’s Dad managed to manipulate his mates in the media into showering with underserved praise. I agree that £11m could have brought much more value for Stoke. A strange signing given he did nothing last season.

Well it’s all going off tonight, bids accepted for Waghorn cash plus player exchange and Marriott too. Vydra to Leeds deal looks to be back on.

posted on 24/7/18

what makes even less sense about the Stoke thing is that a number of players went on record at the end of last season saying one of the reason they'd gone down was too many players not working for the team, bad signings etc. who ended up out of the squad.

Ince is anything but a team player, so seems like the opposite of what they need? They need throw themselves through brick walls for the cause type players to restore the balance, Ince has never been that type of player.

Looks like Marriott is going to the reddogs and we are getting Waghorn with players in exchange for him

Unfortunately Tom never lives up to his potential!..out of his depth in the Premier league as he misses most of the chances he gets

As for the comment we never get out of our own half?. Wtf you on about? We beat man u at home and are generally allover teams at our place! We also won 3 away games too!

You lot obviously only watch match of the day where they like to belittle the smaller clubs!
