I have a junior in my programme who is a challenging character.
Easily distracted, frequently blaming circumstances or others, things aren't always fair etc.
His mother said to him, do you want a coach who just says you're doing great, or do you want a coach who pushes you, doesn't let you coast through sessions, comes to your competitions to support you, cares how you get on....
When people are not happy with something at the club it's because they want the best, they want it to be successful, they care and you know what, we have been through some really sh yt times the last 15 years and then before in the 80s too, but we're still here and have a right to air views
10 different supporters will have 11 different views on Leeds.
What isn't right though is when dissatisfaction with players is raised to hatefully and in your face as some of the bile spawn on twitter and from crowds to players and their families.
I think clubs need to have folk who can help the players deal with the public spotlight (not just media training) but how to deal with the feedback, maybe the PFA help with this.
Easy to kill a kids confidence and belief and we seem to be a graveyard for many good or decent players.
Look how some players we've had in the past have been poor for us then go on to better things in a pub with a better atmosphere.
I've just seen " Do you want to win? " and Wilko knew how to create the right conditions. Imagine if we had the finances to allow him to continue the project rather than being in poorer players to help along our youth cup side that handed Beckham and co their backsides in the youth cup.
Similarly now until our first team has the togetherness with supporters behind them all, the kids will never reach their true potential....
Hello all btw first time back on here in a long time

Club not pub ha ha ^^
Those who don't remember me I used to do those based tables during the - 15 season showing our true league position. on the BBC 606
Welcome back BL!
I honestly don’t remember you but I participated in the old BBC 606 that season, culminating in being at Wembley and meeting a few at the Greenman.
Salonika, good article but to whom are you addressing the article:
A) the Elland Road boo boys,
B) posters here,
C) some other group,
D) a combination of the above?
Eh up White BL. I remember you. That was such a great season. As in life, it takes all sorts. Knowing a lot on here, there are plenty who spend money on season tickets, merchandise etc. who air their issues. But, they have a right as they put their money into the club.
Then there's posters like me who used to live in the city, went to games regular, but moved away. Then moved to the US. The only money I put into the club now is through merchandise and LUTV. I try not to moan too
much. Mainly because I haven't earned the right. In my head at least.
constructive criticism is a good thing and right of every supporter but i will never understand abuse hurled at players. ive only supported leeds for 15 years so the -15 year was the high point for me. feels a bit different this year. the targets have been better at least and at the moment i feel there's still time to bring in a few more players for a serious push. id actually be quite happy with top six.
Interesting take on the Grot situation, was that when the going was getting tough for him with the relationship with the fans, should the coach have protected him from that by not having him in match day squads?
Interesting thread.
Supporter; a person who approves of and encourages a public figure, political party, policy, etc.
In this case Leeds United.
You can support the club blindly irrespective of what transpires.
You can get frustrated when situations go against the grain and voice your dissatisfaction.
Constructive criticism is positive when delivered in context.
I've supported Leeds United since I was four years old. I'm a former season ticket holder. I used to fly in from Saudi Arabia to watch matches.
None of the above makes me a better supporter than someone who supports the club but doesn't actually go to games. I don't think that the amount of cash you sink into a club is relevant either.
Having the best interests of the club at heart is perhaps the important factor here.
I do take exception to constantly knocking the club for literally every little aspect of its activities. Even spinning fact into fiction to support ones agenda.
Leeds United isn't perfect. Plenty of room for improvement. It's still our club though and we should applaud those who are the custodians when they "get it right" rather than just snipe when they don't.
I've met plenty of Leeds United fans who have never been to Leeds let alone ER. We all stand equal because that's what makes Leeds United.
I have never been to ER & consider myself as a fan ( fan being short for fanatical - motivated or characterized by an extreme, uncritical enthusiasm or zeal) rather than a supporter. I see a supporter as a fan who regularly financially supports the club, whether it be by buying tickets for games or buying official club merch.
Interesting view but I'd say you were a supporter. One and the same as far as I can see. Your allegiance is to Leeds United. In footballing terms nothing else matters.
.......nothing else matters
People should remember that Grot is a young guy and support him accordingly. Players are less likely to be treated badly if they come through the academy route rather than from external sources.
I have written elsewhere about how B.P-F. is given time whereas with someone like Felix the crowd were quick to get on his back.
Home grown talent is given more chance by the crowd than those bought in.
People who boo and harass at ER should think of the impact that has on the young ego, watch Berry Van Peer vs Gary Anderson to see how a crowd can affect a young man.

There's some proper mental gymnastics going on here.
You're basically giving yoursen a free pass by saying you care. It's total bull$hite.
No idea what relevance your 'challenging character' story has.
I go to matches (about one or two a season) by myself, buy merchandise but watch every match. I do not enjoy going to ER as it's a lonely experience but I go because think it's important. I think a lot of the guys who go week in week out wouldn't bother if they lived 200 miles away and didn't have their mates to go with.
The bottom line is that booing or jeering any player isn't helping them or the club, whether that's Okane, Grot, Tom Lees, Scott Wootton, Chris Wood, Stephen Crainey, Bradley Johnson et al.
You destroy confidence and you encourage further.bad performances.
I don't judge supporters based on whether they go to games. I judge them based on whether they have the club's best interests in mind, or whether they would rather the club to fail if they got to say I told you so.

Els, pertinent point, lots of Leeds fans live a long way away and its not easy, or cheap to get to home matches these days.

The abuse some of our own players get is unacceptable. Grot is young and clearly has been affected by the treatment dished out to him.
It's not about giving them tough love - you can do that in a one on one coaching environment maybe, but en-masse it's just futile and unless you have a soulless borg wearing the shirt, then it's going to have a detrimental impact.
There's d11111cks who abuse Phillips every game, without fail. The instant he makes an error he gets abuse, loud and vocal. But utter silence when he scores or makes a good challenge.
The fans have a part to play and abusing the players shouldn't be part of it.
I'll hold my hands up on Phillips although I never vocally abuse any player at ER or elsewhere. Just JA606. In fact the only person to get verbal abuse from me was Colin. A man with no eyebrows deserves abuse in my opinion ()
I can't fathom why Phillips gets a game under different coaches although I will concede that it he appears to be improving, more consistent under Bielsa.
My "abuse" has never resorted to name-calling simply stating that he isn't good enough for this level let alone Leeds United. Happy to be proven wrong.....
Fans/supporters can and should express opinions on players on forums like this, I've no issue with that. The game is about opinions and we all have them (certainly on here!!).
I just don't get the direct abuse some players get from "fans/supporters" - but it maybe just me and I accept that.
Colin - never could warm to that guy, as much as I thought he may actually be a good coach/manager!
I remember sitting near a guy who absolutely hated Neil Kilkenny, which I always thought was unfair. Everytime he touched the ball he would shout at him. Then he scored a banger against Yeovil, and whilst the entire ground was celebrating this one guy just stayed sat down, his arms crossed.
No idea what Killers had done to pi$$ him off.
My best mate (now sadly departed) rang me as I was driving into ER to say that Colin was a done deal and would be in the crowd that day. I think it was Doncaster Rovers.
I can remember the reports afterwards about how Colin turned the game on its head by visiting the changing rooms at half time.
I suspect the players were hoping 3 points would keep Neil in a job and prevent the self-proclaimed promotion guru away from ER.
Terrible man, never liked him and never will.
Basically its the Internety thingy, it gives people the right to abuse anyone they want, but, when you get hot heads that think they can do better than others on it then you have the right environment to damage anybody!..
There are a lot out there that don't like it when someone is doing what they cant, but when players are not as good as the star players the morons will help their world fall apart!..
Some of it's jealousy but having said that, some of it is people posing as fans of clubs they have nothing to do with!..
I wouldn't be surprised if some of it isn't players from other clubs having a go knowing players are having a bad time!..
