I think a good technical, ball playing central defender like Willian is exactly what we need. Good signing.
I think it will be Maguire.
I don't think the board will pay over the odds for a 30 year old. Jose won't win this time.
Zlatan was a free and Sanchez we swapped. Willian for 60-65m would be terrible business. Club won't go for it I don't think.
Similar story with Alderweireld.

Barry. I think the Dundee stalwart Darren O'Dea would improve our defence ten fold. Hopefully Ed is all over this...

Maybe Stetford. I can understand that stance.
I really hope we can secure a quality left back and a right winger, doesn't seem likely though.
I can see Leicester clinging onto Maguire and I can't see him agitating for a move despite surely wanting to join us.

I think he's dead. But, Steven Caulker has been good.
We shouldn't be paying 60-65m for Perisic, Willian or Alderweireld. This is one time I will stick up for the board. It would be bonkers.

Could Liverpool legend Steven Caulker follow in the footsteps of Michael Owen and make that controversial move?

Caulker just has that added versatility you need at the very top level. A modern day Dion Dublin.
The scenario, you're 1-0 down and you need to pull a tactical masterstroke. Who better to have in the box than Caulker and Fellaini up front terrorising defences?!?!?!

Could it possibly be R Hodgson......maybe!

The sad thing is, you can see that Willian and Perisic would offer us a more direct threat and it would surely benefit Lukaku. Nobody seems to play with genuine wingers anymore do they?!?!?!

If they were both 24 I'd have both. The club probably would too.
We are daft with money but we aren't going to pay 60m for 30 year old players who let's be honest are good players bit not top top bracket ones. Perisic n Willian's returns of goals and assists aren't anything spectacular.
The club thankfully seen to know a poor squad investment due to age when they see one.
Agreed.
If we did get Willian, I'd be satisfied it wouldn't be blocking the pathway of Chong, who from what I hear is a real talent but a couple of seasons away from knocking on the door of being a regular rw?
Perisic is better on the left so signing him would be utterly pointless really.
I wish there was an attainable right winger who would vastly improve us, but I'm really not sure who that person is.
We should be looking at the RW first and foremost.
JM has at his disposal at CB;
Lindelof
Bailly
Smalling
Jones
Rojo
Tuanzebe
Fosu-Mensah
He purchased Lindelof & Bailly for decent sums of money. If he can't get a tune out of two or three of those then we have a problem. Tuanzebe is a real talent who once again during preseason looks comfortable in the first team.
Left back is top priority!
TFM can play right back and so can Dalot when he's fit.
Sanchez can play on the right (please God)
If we were to sign a second player, I would still go for a world class centre back like Alderweireld because we don't have any. Bailly is a class just below at the moment and the rest love hoofing it more than Jose.
I'd also sell Rojo, Jones and Smalling.
TFM......Bailly......Alderweireld....Tierney
Dalot....Lindelof.....Tuanzebe......Shaw
Left back and right wing stand out obviously as the problem positions.
Tierney and Pulisic would be attainable I think, and quality additions with plenty of potential to improve.
Unfortunately however, we are much more likely to get Willian and Alderwiereld, which just makes me sad about the state of our transfer policy.
With the current state of the club, spending £60m on Willian will only hurt us long term.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would say because
1. Less money to spend on other areas we need strengthening. We don't have an endless pot of cash
2. Stunts the development of our younger players such as Martial (if he stays which would be even less likely if Willian came in) and rashford by not getting game time.
Lets be fair Sanchez and Lukaku play nearly every game under Jose. Willian if he came in would more than likely be the same

If we pay £66 million we are idiots. The bloke is a solid player but is 29 and for 66milyou should be someone far better.
Our full back positions are in equal need of reinforcements.

Willian’s a very good player. Unfortunately you pay ridiculous money for very good players these days.
My only issue with signing him is his age, and whether he can maintain his directness and speed off the mark for much like longer. We’d definitely get one very good season out of him though.
The right is an issue due to the full back. None of our full backs attack their sides, cross often enough or stretch play. Willian will not fix that.
If either Dalot, TFM and Shaw are able to do this, we would see better from the team in an attacking sense. Pep sorted these positions out in his second season and look how better they looked attacking wise. We're still dealing with problem areas as we're not signing players to sort them.
