I take your point about the perception with Club's like Chelsea, Leeds etc. but just to add some balance, some of the most high profile, much admired, followed and extremely relevant (leaders or top boys if you like) came from ethnic backgrounds and were (and still are) universally known and highly respected amongst ALL Chelsea fans. Slang names to protect identities for them are Kojak (god rest his soul), Babsy, Black Jimmy, Black Willie, Braith, Del and Panther.
I often used to go with my West Indian school mate and we had no problems with other supporters. He often would say hello to and converse with the likes of Hickey etc. and JFDI has already explained his experiences on here earlier.

Ok. I'm not for a moment suggesting that you are in any way racist but it must have been difficult for black/mixed race fans of the club not to have been affected by some of the racism that existed at SB and other grounds during that period.
Denton as I'm sure you know was one of the Arsenal firm's infamous leaders and he was also of west indian origin but I know from reading about him that one of the reasons that he chose to support Arsenal was because racism amongst the Arsenal following was far less than at other London clubs.
Fair enough, as I say I do take your point from earlier and some of our fans were guilty of being racist particularly in the late 70's, when the NF were prominent, but as you say the climate has changed a long time ago and the current support is more tourist than anything.
And yes I do know of Dainton (The Bear) although I never encountered him personally.
I told you Gin palace, i got more racist abuse at school than football. I've been going regularly since 79, though my first game was 74.

Fair enough but just because you are the type of bloke who doesn't let these things bother him doesn't make it ok. Others particularly fans born post 1990 wouldn't have had to suffer so much everyday racism so wouldn't have the tools to deal with it.
Anyway, it clearly hasn't stopped you enjoying yourself at gamers so good luck to you.
