Morata our first choice for another season, with Bats and Giroud alternatives if he drops out of form.
It would've been against club policy to sign Higuain.
We would've probably gotten 1 good season out of him.
I'd much prefer Martial or Immobile.
We should have sorted this striker issue out already. Morata is not the answer, we know this. Those hoping that he comes good this coming season are doing just that, hoping.
If we go into the season with the current strike force then Michy will likely become our first choice striker in my opinion. We've probably done the right thing not bringing in Higauin though.
Ugh, another season of Torrata missing one on ones and open goals. Yay.
I personally think people have jumped the gun far too soon with Morata. Drogba had a very similar first season - not a great goal return, throwing himself on the floor etc. And look how good he became. In this Twitter age you get written off immediately.
I wouldn’t have been sad to see Higuain, as it would have shown the club are backing Sarri to the max. But I agree it could be a blessing owing to his age and fitness.

I’m surprised no ones linked with Immobile. I guess Lazio would demand stupid amounts like SMS and he does have some hallmarks of a player who, for whatever reason, can only do it in one league
Obviously like everyone else I was disappointed with Morata last season, but I do believe he has lots of potential. I can't see him lasting longer than this season if things don't improve though.
But even if things don't work out for Morata - I am not disappointed to have missed out on Higuain. I know he can score goals, but he is so slow - that's not the type of football I want to watch. For the amount of money Chelsea were rumoured to have been quoted for Higuain, it just seemed a stupid waste.
I can see you going balls deep for Danny Ings

Morata wasn't a lost cause last season. Yeah his finishing was god awful but the amount of times he got into positions to miss those sitters with a simple piece of movement or turn of pace showed the instincts of a good striker.
I wouldn't be opposed to getting someone else in if we got good money back (IMO that man wasn't Higuain), but he's worth giving one more season under fresh management with a totally different playing style.
The ideal scenario via Morata (through it's extremely unlikely) would be to upgrade at CF but keep him as a backup/plan B. His issues seem to be mentality based cos technically there's nothing wrong with him + was a magnificent 2nd choice for Real & Juventus.
