As much as I would like to see us come out all guns blazing tonight, I can see there being a more pragmatic approach which whilst not always easy on the eye does tend to get results in Europe.

Its the best approach for all teams in Europe imo. Keep it tight at the back and chances will come at the other end. I'd take 1-0 in every game.

Definitely. If you lose 1-0 then you can normally complain about cheating refs and being denied obvious chances where you'd have won the game. If you lose 5-0 it's much harder to be victimised.

doesnt bother me if rangers get to the groups, if we make it then its a disadvantage in the league with 2 games a week , tired legs.

im fine with rangers having that trouble as well.

Contrast this thread pre Rangers game to the one by NNH pre Celtic game.

I wouldn't have John in the team either to be honest. He's even worse than Tavernier.

Ideally we'd bring in a solid left sided full back, similar in the mold to Flanagan. I.e. doesn't venture forward much, stays compact etc.

Spot on....Flannagan on the right and , for me, Wallace on the left. John and Tavernier only look good going forward....not their first priority.

The Wallace situation is still a grey area.

Do you think he's been given a clean sheet by Gerrard?

If so I'd still like Tav in the team but in RM with Flanagan at RB and Wallace at LB.

I'd imagine that would fit into Gerrard's ethos.

Ultimately, he's going to play. He's somehow been appointed captain of the side, and that pretty much guarantees a starting berth.

I dunno...they announced that Wallace and Rossiter were back in training and SG always mentions him and says he's injured. He has a year left and I think it'd be a disgrace if he were not allowed to honour that. He stood by us and anything he did or said was from the heart. Plus, who are we going to get that's better ?

I don't see him as a RM. He's better coming from deep, whereas at RM he wouldn't have that extra space in front of him.

I agree with all of that. Kenny Miller must have got a nice gagging order settlement.

Everyone can guess what went on: Wallace and Miller calling Murty a hopeless fud and Murty standing his ground then reporting them.

Yeh, something like that....and Murty the fun is still there and Wallace is up on a charge !! As I said...disgraceful.
