Could this be our potential starting XI?

I really hope that as Morata has changed his shirt number to 29 that it means we are actually signing a striker.

Ideally I'd like to Morata leave but doubt that is happening now wether we sign a striker or not..

I'm expecting 1 of Giroud or Bats to go and I like both

Hazard won’t be moved out of his best position to accommodate a 17 year old youth player.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Is Hazard's best position really the LW?
Seems you lot are quick to forget his MOTM displays from the middle last season.
Even when he scored arguably the best goal of his career, it was from the middle, when he dribbled past 3 to 4 Arsenal players before beating Cech.
So I ask again...is the LW really his best position?

he plays behind the striker from LW to RW and the centre, practically has a free role up there playing as a number 10.

But his name on the team sheet will likely say one of those positions.

just remember formations don't win matches, players do

Clearly it is, which is where his best performances come and where all his managers play him. Having the freedom to come inside and still cause problems doesn’t mean he’ll succeed starting in the centre as a bumber ten, it’s a different role.

And if Hazard is going to be moved into the middle, which is highly unlikely, I don’t see a 17 year old youth player taking up the spot to replace him on the wing. It’s just not how your club operates.

If we had all our players fit now this is the team I reckon Sarri would pick

Courtois
Azpi Luiz Rudiger Alonso
Kante Jorginho Barkley
Willian Morata Hazard

Willian just nudged it ahead of Pedro, but I'm unsure on that one. Also unsure whether it'll be Barkley, Loftus Cheek or Fabregas in that 3rd midfield spot.

Head says Barkley as he is the most goal-oriented

I think you're right - but I also believe Sarri (rightly) sees that third central midfield position as our weakest link - whether it is Barkley, Fabregas or Loftus-Cheek. The rest of the team is pretty solid - albeit we have a very shallow squad. If any one of those other players is injured, we won't be able to fill the position with anyone nearly as good.

Sarri suggesting Luiz will be involved again. He can be a basket case but he adds so much to Chelsea it’s no surprises to me the two post title winning seasons without Luiz being involved you were much worse.

He’s class, capable of the hilarious and outrageous in the same game.

Morata needs replaced, doesn’t have the heart for the PL

Luiz wasn’t at Chelsea when they won the title in 2015. He’s a good player, though. Makes such a difference to Chelsea building attacks with his ability to play the ball out from the back.

Though there are question marks over him playing in a back four where he has less cover for his suspect positioning.

RLC as the 3rd man in midfield. Fabs last 20.

Upfront?

Bats.

Yeah, he's suspect defensively in a back four. Hopefully both Kante and Jorginho would provide extra cover required.

Looking forward to the new set up and and an attacking football

Yeah and if you keep the ball better it will put less pressure on the back four as well.

posted on 3/8/18

Yeah, that's the idea. If we get top four and pick up a trophy, I'll be happy with that.

Yep think it’s a stretch too far to come back and win the league after a below par season. You’ll definitely be in the mix for top four even if the team has some struggles under the new manager.

Just win the Europa. We must be favorites.

Chelsea are favourites, then Arsenal. But the odds don’t mean much at this stage as it can change massively once the CL teams drop in. As we saw last season. In fact, two of the last three winners have been cl dropouts.

It will take time to adjust to Sarri's tactics. We'll probably pick up few dodgy results on the way.

Also, CFC needs to get a striker who we can rely on scoring near enough consistently. Unless Morata learns how to finish the chances this season. He does get in good scoring positions though, just fecking learn how to finish and we'll be fine

Yeah. Let's hope Ateltico doesn't drop in it this season

Yeah we won it as a drop out. I'd back us against any team (esp. Man U) over two legs.

I think Morata will improve this season but he could still be your undoing. Actually think Bats could do well if given the chance. Looks a cool finisher and in a team that plays creative football he should score a lot, like he did at Dortmund, albeit they’re used to playing that way more than Chelsea are.

Doubt Atleti will drop out of the CL again this season. But there are usually a few good teams that do that are capable of winning it.

How they stack up against Chelsea remains to be seen.

You didn't see Morata's pen v Arsenal? Couldn't even get it to the goaline. Shocking player.

Genuinely think Bats will do the best outta the current 3. At least he'll get near the six yard box.

Bats is a way better option than Morata. Unless we sign a new striker then Bats should be our first choice striker going into this new season.

posted on 3/8/18

I don't know, Bats not back from the world cup is he ? Morata will first few epl games for sure. See what happens

posted on 3/8/18

Nope didn’t see it. Doesn’t sound like Morata has had the best pre season.
