Based on expectations vs Stoke's team sheet, going in to today. Coupled with our collective anticipation over our first team sheet under MB, I'd say today was our best performance in a very long time.
Positives.
A joy to see all players give 100% and by that I don’t just mean running a lot. All eleven players wanted the ball sometimes in tight spots. There was movement off the ball something we lacked most of last season. Football is an easy game if your teammates give you an easy option. It was this very movement that stoke struggled to defend against.
Saiz. Decision making much better and he even added a little defensive quality to his game. Chased down the keeper a couple of times and I even saw him jump for an header. Has to keep this up to ensure we defend as a team.
Klich. Definitely like a new signing. Had a good game.
Roofe finally getting to play every game as a striker. Been wasted at Leeds filling holes everywhere other than where he should be. Striker or bench from now and looks like Bielsa agrees.
Corners. Some real whip from a Douglas corner and huge upgrade on alioski who hit the front man 50% of the time.
Enjoyed it. Players actually looked like they enjoyed playing the game. Heads were high, chest up high.
Discipline. Was a good start. We gave very few free kicks away in our half of the field.
All in all a very good start to the season. Vast majority of players could stake a claim for man of the match. Personally I gave it to Cooper. Saved a certain goal, scored a great header, and was very assured at the back. Thought the only weak link was Berardi who almost and should have cost us a goal when miscontrolling and did when he failed to clear the ball just before the penalty award.
Very very happy
Alioski's face was a picture when subbed off he looked so happy.
Best I can remember since O’Leary days.
We completely dominated them and our movement at times was a joy to watch
Repeat that vs Derby please
Biggest thing for me today was the entire team looked unafraid. Unafraid to play, express themselves, be present, be willing to take the ball. They looked like
they totally believed in the game plan and philosophy.
If I had to pick one player who maybe wasn't at the races it was Bera, almost cost us a goal in the first half and should have cleared the ball that led to the pen, otherwise faultless.
Shout it loud Saiz is back.
However, Berra clean McClean's clock toward the end.
How much better was Alioksi on the left wing too? Instead of cutting inside aimlessly, he was driving down the wing and crossing it when he got a chance.
Alioski looked good today.
On thread and off it, I said how great it is having actual left footers on the left; Cooper & Douglas.
And I believe Alioski's also a lefty. Nice balance.

Very good point.
Better balanced.
Alioski forced to cross from the left rather than run down the right and cut in and lose the ball 75% of time.

The pass to Berardi wasn't ideal. He rattled a few players, that tackle in the 70th or so minute I celebrated like a goal
cant believe people having a go at berardi for what was a telegraphed balloon pass from saiz that would have put him under pressure whether he had controlled the ball or not. It was a terrible pass to him but dont see anyone blaming saiz for it
If hed broken that kant mccleans leg he would have got MOM. Fooking hate that lowlife even more than any skumchester players

agree it was a needless ball when Saiz had other options. Remember thinking when the ball was in the air it was a poor choice but it was straight to Berra and a professional tier 2 footballer should have been able to control it.
That was a bad ball, one of the worst of the day. I don’t blame Berardi at all. But we need to expect this. Cooper was then excellent at covering.
Not one player is faultless ever, you can only look at the overall game. They were exceptional, all of them.
Can they keep this going? Will we hit a 4 game losing patch like early last season? How will they react?
I’m sure we will find out. Another LUFC season coming up
Boss has said he wants to bring in a couple more players.
If you were a young player, a manager looking to get a loan move for a player or someone who wanted/needed a transfer you would look at that performance today and it would be a drawing factor.
That performance will have made it easier to sign players
Agreed, ER is the place to be and loans make sense both in terms of finances but also the level of quality you can attract.
That said, if we can secure two of the permanents that have been bandied about, why not?
Yes yes yes was a great result / performance but lets not get carried away lads. Remember last season we were going to win the league after 9 games. Won 7 drawn 2 so get in perspective. Calm down, Calm down FFS
