We are not under pressure to win it and the fans have been relaxed about it for a couple of seasons but this season expectations are a lot higher. I have not seen many Liverpool fans say we are going to win it but I think the majority of us want us to challenge this season with the investment we have made and squad depth we have compared to recent seasons.

Utd have a lot of quality still and I would not write them off so quickly.

I think City are still the team to beat as they have strength in depth and finished way ahead of anyone else last season. I don't thin the gap will be that big this season though.

My top 5 this season -

1, City
2, Liverpool
3, Utd
4, Chelsea
5, Spurs
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah I would go with that.

Liverpool have the formula to beat City but sadly for them nobody else does and more teams will frustrate Liverpool over the season than City. City will win it by 8-12pts.

Utd Spurs Chelsea in a 3 way fight for 2 spots. Arsenal will be 6th again. Their squad just isn't good enough.

You really should be given the money you have spent and the progress Klopp has made.

I don't think you want to be like Spurs fans.

None of the pressure to win the title is coming from anyone within the club. We keep saying this but it keeps going over everyone's head.

Put it this way, if Klopp doesn't win it but still manages 2nd or 3rd, can you see him getting the sack? Not for me. He has made huge strides in 2 full seasons.

As for Jose, I think he could well lose his job if he fails to bring the PL title back to OT this season.

As for the money, I think some would argue that the money pulls us toward the likes of City and United and not away from them.

We do have the players and manager capable of winning the title.

For us to win the title with the manager, I recommend not watching our games as the approach he will adopt to win the title will make you contemplate gouging out your eyes

Watching the Newcastle game I did wonder....how well would Jose do managing a team like them? could he be successful doing so?
I think Man U are looking for a reason to cut Jose out imo and although it may not happen immediately I think they realise his toxic form of football doesnt bode well.

Be interesting to see how things unfold

But sooner or later you will want to be winning something.

Liverpool are being grossly overrated. They will be coming down to earth with a big bump. Their defence is still very flakey against any half decent team. And if Milner is going to be a regular. Then would he get anywhere near any of the other top four teams? Of course he wouldn`t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You clearly either
a) Didn't watch Milner against the West Ham
or
b) Have no clue about football.
or
c) Both of the above.

I'm going with "c".

But you've filtered me ( #metoo ) so I guess you won't see this ya weirdy.

Does anybody think, with city and Liverpool being favourites and everyone expecting them to fight it out, it could help us this season?

-

No.

The expectation at United is always to win the title, so the pressure is enormous regardless of what the bookies are saying.

Secondly, the fact that the two favourites are our two biggest rivals only amplifies the pressure.

We haven#t won it in donkeys years and you win it and challenge regularly which is why the expectation is a lot higher for you than us.

If Klopp is spending as much as our rivals each season and not selling our best players then the expectation grows each season.

3 finals in 2 full seasons. I think we've been unlucky if anything. We're competing for the big prizes now and that's down to Klopp.

It pains me to say it, but we're unfortunate to be looking so good at a time when City look almost unbeatable - otherwise, I'd have us favourites for the title and that's something we haven't been able to say for a long time.

As ever, Chelsea are my dark horses! Particularly, if they keep Hazard.

Strikers is only where Chelsea are arguably poor.

I also like Sarri ball, and it depends on how quickly the team adapts to Sarri ball. Probably a season too soon.

City champions and runaway favourites. The rest are losers - but we have to qualify for the CL.

It'd be a very sad may if United were to look up the table and find liverpool and City above them!!!

We have to win a cup or two to cushion that blow, IMO.

I haven't read all the replies so sorry if it's been said

OP I don't see Liverpool battling it out with City or being favourites

If anything I see Spurs, if they can get the whole new ground sorted, to be more of a threat

If Jose does in fact have a meltdown, then I see us suffering big time. If not then I see Liverpool fighting for top 4 at best

Of course things can happen during the season, so if a team is out of all comps and just focusses on the league etc etc or major injuries to key players.

Thanks

But think about it.

Spurs have no new people to bed in

They finished above Liverpool even though they played at Wembley and had issues early on and teams played harder because it was wembley and they won't get another opportunity

Spurs will be a bigger threat than Liverpool imo

..................

Spurs record at Wembley last season was only four points worse than ours at OT.

They got the same number of points as Liverpool did at Anfield.

And only one of those two teams has improved over the summer.

Spurs finished above Liverpool by virtue of a dodgy 93rd penalty. I rate Spurs but heavily fancy us to come above them this season. Alder and Rose are still not playing and a midfield if Dier and Sissoko is not CL standard. Wanyama, Dembele and Winks have less working legs than Heather Mills.
