I think Jose has lost Pogba, Lukaku, Martial, Sanchez.

I think Lindelof, Jones, Fred and a few others are just garbage.

Think it's a bit of a myth that you played well in the first half and said it lastnight. Spurs had more control in their play, utd were very kick and rush and rather than pressing were like school kids getting sucked to where the ball was.

bar the lukaku chance utd didn't really have much and spurs should have had a pen, alli should have scored and they looked threatening everytime moura got the ball.

Was only a matter of time till they scored for me. Just my opinion though.

The first half was frantic more than playing well to summarise.

I disagree, we looked more like scoring in the first half. Spurs barely had a sniff...

Alli had a massive chance, moura just missed a lay off for eriksen, should have had a pen. Alli was through on goal but basically stopped, and messed up the chance.

Was just the final decision that was the difference between them being 2 or 3 - 1 up at half time for me. That lukaku chance was huge.

I actually missed the game last night but it sounds like it was very similar to our first Manchester derby under Jose were it was end to end but we had no real control over the game and were shambolic defensively.

Neville was bang on

when the game started to settle there was only gonna be one winner

Pretty much Giggs.

Utd showed good "energy" but lingard was just running around like a headless chicken for example. Whether was spurs were getting more of a foothold. End of the first half spurs looked like they could score everytime they went forward.

It wasn't the most controlled or coordinated display in the first half but I'd rather us stick with that mindset for a few games now then revert back into our shells. Surely our pressing and incisiveness will improve if we stick to the same plan?

Our defence is poor though at times and makes you realise why it was rumoured we wanted a centre back. We need an organiser in there I feel. If Terry was a few years younger it would be no surprise if Jose would consider him such is our need there. Not saying that's the answer though!

tbf first half hr or so you battered us and if ROM had took that chance it would have most likely been 3 zip the other way.

How often do we see managers go and players suddenly perform better?

The players aren't playing for Jose. Whether they're unmotivated, lacking confidence or simply unhappy so not performing their best it's got to fall on the manager.

You keep banging on about Spurs being better, but if you actually look at the result, SREE-nil, but it also means SREE Premier Leagues and Jose won more alone than the other 19 managers together. SREE for him and two for them.

I can't see a press working at utd unless you play maybe sanchez lingard and a more dynamic midfielder, maybe fred further up?

Matic was woeful at it, lukaku I can't see doing it, pogba I can't see doing it, martial I can't see doing it.

Small margins at this level as we know, Lukaku scores and Utd go on to win IMO.

I remember we played City in the season we won the title in 2016/17... They were 1-0 up and De Bruyne missed an absolute sitter from 5 yards out to kill the game... 2mins later we equalise and go on to win 3-1.

I don't think anyone is expecting the Liverpool style of pressing but I do think we can get a bit higher up the pitch in games to try and win the ball back. Usually it's just dropping back into our own third and go from there.

A happy medium is all I'm asking!

Said it last night but United didn't play well. They tried hard and gave it there all but that doesn't equate to playing well.

Neither team played well imo but Spurs were clinical.

As for Mourinho, he's been given 2 seasons and the team now are probably worse than when he took over.
He's spent close to 400m and not got brought 1 player in who could be considered a successful signing (Ibrahimovic first season aside)

The club would be stupid to continue to throw money at him when it's not worked. Though it seems stupid to keep him in post and no back him. I suspect it's a wait and see approach, if he can get an upturn in form + position by January, he'll get backing but if he doesn't he'll get a sacking

dont actually think we did that bad last night considering the way Lukaku and Matic both played... it was like having 9 men on the pitch

We'll play worse and win that's for sure. You did feel we needed the goal in the first half though.

The trouble isn't just the pressing, it's that we still don't know what to do with the ball in possession.

We stopped Spurs playing for 45 without really creating much ourselves, we just forced mistakes out of their back line and midfield.

Soon as Spurs scored and dropped 20 yards, we had no idea what to do.

Dressing rooms can be won over or lost in minutes.

Not that great an issue.

Far more relevant is the depth of the characters, their communication skills, their (footballing, or team) intelligence and the experience and quality of ability in that dressing room.

They are pretty leaderless on the pitch at the moment and there is zero sense of responsibility in many of them.

In terms of team intelligence, direction, shape and generally 'having a clue' united are more of a mess than i have seen in over 50 years of fandom.

Even when, back in the 70s, facing relegation you could at least see what they were trying to do. And, as a post script, these issues were all present way before Jose arrived.

Jose has bought reasonably well, but not enough. Jose has inherited some dross (herrera and lingard), which he should have offloaded, and some average (that have alledged potential) that he should deal with in the reserves not the first team. But those are kind of micro-managing issues compared to the important ones, such as:

Lack of character (in some)
Lack of shape
Lack of direction
Lack of personal responsibility
Lack of team intelligence (in some)
Plus some 'round pegs and square holes' stuff.

Not a fan of changing managers/coaches at any time really. Prefer to see more fluidity, continuity, progressiveness and dynamism in club direction. But whatever the club decides to do coach wise is totally irrelevant until they sort the quality, character and depth of that squad out.

Jose brings it on himself. He invited this by his own actions.

The media didn't choose Jose, it was Jose that chose the media.

Totally different games, United did far better in this game and it was good to watch besides Lukaku making a mess of almost all the forward balls and missing an open goal

The players were playing for the manager last night, that can't be denied.

Some just aren't up to scratch.
