Never been but the walk to Craven Cottage must be up there.
Happy Birthday City Ground.
I'm guessing that must make it one of the earliest grounds that is still in use today?
Any ideas on older ones Strett?
Mansfield Town is up there?
Bramall Lane?
I remember Saltergate (Chesterfield) was up there, but long since gone.
The CG is a great location with loads of bars and restaurants nearby to get everyone fed and watered before the match. There aren’t many that can top it IMO. The ground itself is a little tired but has a great atmosphere.
You would have to look at founder members of the football league for older grounds I would have thought. Villa Park and Deepdale, maybe?
Seems it is either Bramall Lane or Field Mill looking in the net.
It certainly is one of the finest, especially after we've dicked you in your own back yard. >ok>
Always nice get home for a good scrub though.
Guaranteed a good scrub(ber) back home, Iwas.
I believe Deepdale is the oldest followed by Newport Counties ground, Rodney parade, just a bit of trivia I remember from somewhere.
Correct the above Wiki says it is Field Mill which has hosted sport since 1861, followed by Bramall Lane, I must have got mixed up. Apologies.
Deepdale is the oldest in continuous use, knew I heard it somewhere. Apparently Mansfield didn’t plat at Field Mill for a couple of seasons.
Some would say Mansfield have rarely played at Field Mill. But not me...
After 3 home games (two televised) The World Famous City Ground has had the third highest attendance
Only Leeds and Villa can boast bigger gates
It has been a lovely buzz walking down to the CG this season. Not been as full of energy since the play off seasons.
