He initially saw Jesus as a revolutionary leader and placed a good deal of faith in a rebellion against roman rule at the time.

It became clear, however, that Jesus was revolutionary in a different way favouring justice for the poor, women, children etc. and challenging not roman rule, but the existing religious leaders.

Now Judas was not fond of them either however that was less as a result of their piety, and more of a result of their unwillingness to challenge roman authority and their at times blatant openness to bribery and corruption from rome (you must remember that rome was not even a republic at this time and was in turmoil after the end of the ceasar dynastic rule - so provinces such as now israel were being squeezed by various factions struggling for power and tax collection was overly burdensome).

Anyway, Judas' frustration continued to rise until, seeing an opportunity to fund revolution and create a cause celebre, accepted a bribe to hand Jesus over to the authorities.

However, never easy with the decision in the 1st place, he was filed with self loathing and ultimately hanged himself.

Whether or not he is the monster portrayed in writings of the church is debatable. Life was cheaper back then and assasination and corruption almost accepted in society.

Of course much of the modern church still sits uneasily with the concept of pre-destination and the acts of judas - it is relatively easy to make a logic based argument around God condemning Judas with no possibility of salvation - assuming of course you go along with the idea that Judas' damnation went hand in hand with his suicide (another debate another time esc but one i think we both wold enjoy).

It is recorded that his last words were איך היה שם זה רק אחד אפס which roughly translates as "how in jesus' name was that just one nil

I offered an explanation as to why someone narrow minded would say that. You said he is not a Catholic well im sure he was growing up so if that is not why they shouted it then i am stumped.

Ok hold on.

You don’t know why someone was shouting Judas at Gerrard, but you all the reasons it wasn’t for?

posted on 5/9/18

because he was an everton fan as a boy and signed for liverpool

judas indeed

JUDAS SCVM

Of course this is predicated upon my earlier commentary of Judas being a somewhat "over-maligned" character in the bible. Perhaps the shouty man meant to say "Your tactics while appearing despicable are influenced by a childhood of unreasonable roman rule, a different approach to the sanctity of life and a desert culture where sand gets fkn everywhere"

I like to think this might be it

How do u know he wasnt a catholic? He was married in a catholic church and his daughter is named Lourdes, this would suggest otherwise.

I think though you should be more concerned with the fact he is a rookie manager no?

So you don’t know? But you know why it isn’t? 😂

Are you just waiting for someone to provide an answer that you’re happy with?

Let’s help Esc out, can someone provide an answer that makes Celtic look bad?

Thanks
